Coloccini And Gutierrez Both Named In Argentine Squad

It’s good news today that both Jonas Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini have been called up for the Argentina national squad that will meet Ireland next week.

Coloccini – rightly recalled to Argentina squad

Both Newcastle players were named in the squad – and in our opinion – rightly so (yes – we could be just a little bit biased).

This is the first squad named by caretaker manager Sergio Batista, since Argentina fired their World Cup manager Diego Maradona last week.

It will be the very first International Football game ever played at the magnificent new Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

The game will take place next Wednesday night with a 7:45 pm KO, – and is just one day after England’s home game against Hungary at Wembley.

The Argentine squad will get together on Sunday, a day after tomorrow’s game at Glasgow Rangers, and we would love to see both players actually start for Argentina on Wednesday night.

Coloccini must have a great chance of starting the game, after the central defenders Maradona chose for the World Cup just weren’t up to the task.

Fabricio in particular must be pleased to be immediately recalled after missing out on the the squad that went to South Africa in the summer.

We hope both Newcastle players  start and have good games on Wednesday night – but no injuries – please!

Comments welcome.

I’d like to see both players come back uninjured. Fingers crossed. Fancy having such meaningless internationals at this time!

Happy Colo recalled, will only improve his game. A bit of good news today, the mackems fail in bid for Nedum Onuoha, but it won’t be long before someone doe’s snap him up, sad times indeed……….

it rly is a silly time to have a friendly. I’d rather them be here and looking only towards manure. Rather them be fresh. I know it’s a bit selfish but if one of those 2 go down… Well i rather not even think about it…

Colo is a 21st century Bobby Moore, we are lucky bunnies to have him. The back 4 without Colo is a drafty unit at times, he is the lynch pin that held it together last season (and Sol, you’d better remember that). Get back safely the both of you, y’hear?

Meaningless, sure if you are not going, which I am, got my ticket and looking forward to visiting the new stadium.
Hope to see the two Argentinos and perhaps Best and Seamus.

I’m glad Colo got called up again. He is a terrific player most of the time. As far as Jonas, I bet he is relieved that he can now play left wing and not right back. What a doma55 Maradona is.

First I don’t rate Colo because of his lack of speed and physical for English football but after successful CCC season I think he’s better player for us and Argentina international now.

However, hopefully he can prove any doubster wrong again in PRM this season. Howay the lads !

He is a much better player than he is when he made his debut in the PL for us. Although he did well in the CCC, its evident his reading of the game improved, regardless of the quality of players he is up against.

Happy for you, and hopefully his form continues this season.
