Jose Enrique was one of the players helping to sell the new Puma black and white striped strip, that went on sale yesterday.
Jose Enrique – seems confident about new seaosn
And from what we could see the sale was a huge success on Tyneside – with fans snapping up the new strips off the shelves, and all three Puma strips for Newcastle this season look very good.
Jose talked to the Evening Chronicle while he was on duty yesterday and said:
“We are determined to get a good start to the season.” “It’s good to be going there when the confidence is very high at this stage of the season.”
“We have a tough start against two of the toughest sides in Man U and Aston Villa.” “If we can get a result from those games, we have a real chance of a good season.”
After the excellent win on Tuesday night at Deportivo, confidence is high in the Newcastle camp, and that never-say-die spirit is there for all to see, and it has to be worth a few vital points next season – and that’s one big difference from the team that was relegated 15 months ago.
Jose is one of the Newcastle players who has been in top form in pre-season, and of course was fantastic for Newcastle all last season.
Jose continued:
“We have to be positive – it was good for morale in Depor and it was good for players to get the full 90 minutes.”
“At this stage of pre-season it was good for us to get a result against a team like that.” “They are a team that should do well. They have a lot of young players but they are a good team that finished 10th last season.”
“They play for that trophy every year and there have been some good teams who have played in that final like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.” “Hopefully we can win another one this season!”
The game tomorrow at Ibrox against Glasgow Rangers will be a good and tough test for the lads, and we have to think we can win the game, but it will give the fans a good idea as what may be possible at Old Trafford a week on Monday night, in a game that will be live on TV around the world.
Jose continued:
“This will be a test against a team that will play in the Champions League next season.” “They’re the best team in Scotland and it’s the last test before Manchester. We want to get our match fitness just right for that game.”
“It’s good to play against a team like Man United in the first game.” “They are not up to 100% yet as players have played at the World Cup.”
“Two years ago we drew, so we can take confidence from that as well.” “We can win or draw again.”
We’d be happy with a good performance in that first league game, but if we get anything out of the game at all, it would be great for Newcastle to start the season with, and will give the lads enormous confidence so early on in the season.
Only 10 days to go before we will find out.
Comments welcome.

The Arfa saga really starts to annoy me.
Enrique and Colo are IMO the 2 best players of our squad.

Comment #6strength combined with pace…..he s the perfect lb that one could hope for……there was many moments in the tottenham game a few years back highlighting his pace where he was matching stride for stride against lennon who is the fastest player imo in premiership……..but the area he could improve is maybe in sliding tackles…just doesnt do that…mind you he needn t do that coz he has pace to burn…..but in future it would do well if he can…….go go the bull!!!!

That would be class, BUT, I fear this may just have come from on here, we were all talking about getting Bellars back the other day.
TBH, I can only see him going to Fulham to link up with Mark Hughes again.

Comment #17The only way bellamy would come back to the toon would be on loan, as ashley would never sanction a perm transfer for a 31 year old, as he would want a 2 year deal, not like the free transfer for sol on a short deal

Comment #31Jose Enrique is like our most consistent player of all. He always shows up wanting to win and is never lazy. There is barely 1 striker out there that can get past Jose.

Comment #34couple of years ago, left back is one of our major problem, but Jose solve that problem.
We just need a reliable backup left back
