Newcastle Move To Plan B After Cleverley Stays At Red Devils

There was a report earlier this week that Wigan had won the race to sign the Manchester United winger Tom Cleverly on loan for the season.

Tom Cleverley – staying at Red Devils

But now we learn that wasn’t even accurate, as news yesterday that  Alex Ferguson will be keeping Tom art Old Trafford next season.

Tom was outstanding on the Red Devils USA tour recently and seems to have done enough to have convinced the Scottish manager he is ready to fight for his place at Old Trafford, but just how many games he will get there is still a good question.

Alex Ferguson said:

“Tom Cleverley is going to stay,” “He is an exceptional young player in the sense of his ability to play in different positions.”

“He is such a mobile boy who can play wide on either side and in central midfield.”  “Also, which he has showed at Watford last year, he is a goalscorer.”

“The days of expecting Paul Scholes to score 15 goals a season have gone now,”  “We have to look at that area of the team because we must get goals from midfield.

“Tom has got outstanding qualities as far as goalscoring is concerned, so he is going to stay.”

But at least this news confirms that Tom will not be arriving on Tyneside, but we have to say that Chris Hughton seems to have an eye for a good player.

So who comes to Newcastle now?

We’d love to see young Slovakian and Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss arrive, since it seems certain that Roberto Mancini is determined to spend  over £100M this summer in the transfer market, and he may even improve the Manchester City side – who knows. 😀

But Chris will have had some back-up plan in case he didn’t get Cleverley, so now it’s back to the old waiting game to see if Newcastle will bring in another winger on loan for the season.

Any ideas on who it may be?

Comments welcome.

I thought we’d already passed plan B & were on our way to play Z at this rate.. lol
In a way I’m glad we didn’t get him as he would have taken moreplaying time from our young lads than a loanee should have due to SAF’s rules… so thanks SAF, yer dun us a favour mate 🙂 lets hope he don’t score the winner when we play them.. lol

I see we’re still in for Arfa anyways, according the latest report from CH, unless thats another load of crap from the crap-loids as usual 🙁

The day we stop behaving like peasants looking for free milk & favours & trust in out own resources is the day we might start winning something. Forget Cleverly, forget loanees, and start accelerating the youth development program. If Cleverly is ready to play for Man U after a season in the Fizz with wondrous Watford why are we so nervous about our own youngsters?

If they are good, let’s see them coming through, if they are rubbish let’s see them b****r off. Please, no more talk about grooming other people’s starlets, it’s truly a sickener.

Well said Captain Beefheart. A true Geordie analysis and sentiment. We are Newcastle United Football Club NOT Newcastle Nursery Football Club!!!

yeah where NEWCASTLE UNITED we cant get relegated oh wait we did. cant see the problem with a couple of loans to strenghten our squad. if its good enough for everton, fulham, ac milan and manu to get a player in on loan its good enough for us

I’d rather us get a cheaper player or whatever than loan someone who would cost more, but only in the case of youngsters. Ben Arfa is different, he is established and may come with a view to a permanent deal so that is acceptable in ym mind. Just not developing youngsters for other clubs IN THE SAME LEAGUE especially SAFs players and when we have Vuckic in the same position.
