Liverpool Enter The Race To Sign Hatem Ben Arfa

News this Sunday morning that Liverpool are considering a move for Marseilles winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa – Liverpool in for this player?

The forward has been linked with a loan move to Newcastle United in recent weeks, but Roy Hodgson is looking to increase his attacking options and sees the 23 year-old as a good addition to his squad and will offer to sing the French youngster on a permanent deal.

The Marseilles manager Didier Deschamps is looking to cut his wage bill and offload Ben Arfa, either on loan or in a permanent deal and of course if the French club can get around £6M for their player, they will sell him this summer.

Roy Hodgson is looking for more creative attacking options for Liverpool, but so are Newcastle, after that part of their game looked so weak in yesterday’s defeat at Rangers.

The news is that Hudgson may be lining up a £12M bid for the youngster, and if that is so we think Marseilles would jump at the chance to sell him for that – but he’s simply not worth that amount, and puts some doubt on the report this morning.

Although Ben Arfa just missed out on the French World Cup squad he has been included in the squad for their game against Norway on 11th August in Oslo.

Ben Arfa will have to look at his options between joining Newcastle or Liverpool, and we have to think he will get a lot more games on Tyneside.

However Liverpool is a tremendous club with five European Championships to its name, and he may decide to join them,  if indeed this report has any truth in it at all.

12mil? Lol? How do some of these journos still have jobs.
Ed i don’t know about him narrowly missing out on the world cup. I don’t claim to have my finger on the pulse of the french national team, but i’m fairly certain that the only reason he’s been named to the squad is because the entire world cup squad is suspended.
I don’t want to sound like i hate the guy or anything of the like, i’m just saying that he’s not our saviour and it’s not the end of the world if we don’t get him.
For example, the ibrox game showed that we are in dire need of a good crosser and a good finisher, and mr arfa is far from either one of those…

Liverpool are 100s of millions in debt and are trying to sell the club so there in no way the Yanks will authorise any kind of signing while they are still there especially for that sort of money. We are more lightly to see the Yanks try to cash in before they leave by selling Liverpool’s biggest assets and pocketing the money and run all the way to the bank.

Cessepool don’t have a transfer warchst of £12m now, Hodgson was given £15m by Laural & Hardy & he’s spend a wad of that already on other players, so unless he’s sold any one significant in the last week, which I’ve not seen, then this story is bogus & ofcourse it’s Sunday, so I rest my case…….

Plus Roy wouldn’t pay £12m for a£6m player, he’s not that stupid, tho I do have my concerns regarding him leaving Fulham for Cessepool!!!

I don’t know about this Liverpool bid – there’s nothing what so ever on the Liverpool section of NewsNow and none of the papers seem to have info on it so i don’t know where this has came from?

I wouldn’t be surprised if either Ben Arfa’s agent or Marseille themselves had invented this rumour to try and put pressure on Newcastle to close the deal quickly. Everyone knows that they have to sell before they can buy so it would therefore make sense if they wanted to get the deal done quickly.

Then again, if Liverpool ARE interested in Ben Arfa… well, we’re screwed 🙁

Screw Liverpool. They wait until late to get involved. What losers. I hate the big four. The FA needs to institute a salary cap to make things stable and equitable.

Liverpool are crap, in lots of debt, and a scary future to be honest. They have some good players but they are in financial problems.

Ben Arfa, wants access to the EPL, he probably does`nt care which club he ends up with.
Why ? a no brainer, like Willy Sutton said when asked why he robbed banks,”it`s where the money is”.
£6m. for a player who sold for twice that amount recently is a deal that makes sense, I dont care how difficult he is.
Face it he is a talented player, something lacking
in this sqad, we could use him and a couple more like him, at the same time get rid of some of the dross.
Looks like one of the sunday papers has us for 17th. place, about right as far as i see it.
Soh ! better dig deep Mike, unless you wanna gamble on a trip back to where we just came from.
