News this Sunday morning that Liverpool are considering a move for Marseilles winger Hatem Ben Arfa.
Ben Arfa – Liverpool in for this player?
The forward has been linked with a loan move to Newcastle United in recent weeks, but Roy Hodgson is looking to increase his attacking options and sees the 23 year-old as a good addition to his squad and will offer to sing the French youngster on a permanent deal.
The Marseilles manager Didier Deschamps is looking to cut his wage bill and offload Ben Arfa, either on loan or in a permanent deal and of course if the French club can get around £6M for their player, they will sell him this summer.
Roy Hodgson is looking for more creative attacking options for Liverpool, but so are Newcastle, after that part of their game looked so weak in yesterday’s defeat at Rangers.
The news is that Hudgson may be lining up a £12M bid for the youngster, and if that is so we think Marseilles would jump at the chance to sell him for that – but he’s simply not worth that amount, and puts some doubt on the report this morning.
Although Ben Arfa just missed out on the French World Cup squad he has been included in the squad for their game against Norway on 11th August in Oslo.
Ben Arfa will have to look at his options between joining Newcastle or Liverpool, and we have to think he will get a lot more games on Tyneside.
However Liverpool is a tremendous club with five European Championships to its name, and he may decide to join them, if indeed this report has any truth in it at all.
