Newcastle Reported To Be After Kevin Prince Boateng

There are rumors, and that’s all they are at the moment, that Newcastle United may be interested in putting in a bid for Portsmouth attacking midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng.

Kevin Prince Boateng – Newcastle interested?

Boateng, who is just 23, had a good World Cup for Ghana, and is already a target for Serie A sides Genoa and Lazio.

Portsmouth are in terrible financial health, and only last Thursday won a High Court ruling in a case against HM Revenue & Customs. that saved the south coast club from going bankrupt.

And it’s not surprising that they are waiting to see who offers the best deal for their Ghana International, who certainly fits the Mike Ashley profile of players he wants – a good young player who can improve further at Newcastle.

Boateng may elect to remain in the English Premier League if given the chance, and after Saturday’s defeat at Rangers it’s clear Newcastle must recruit more creative midfield players to their ranks before the end of August.

Chris Hughton is after bargain deals (aren’t we all), and Boateng could be bought outright for around £5M, and that would be great business for the Tyneside club.

The youngster didn’t come through at Spurs, having been signed from Hertha BSC in 2007, but the German-born player, whose brother Jerome actually plays for Germany, had a very decent season at Portsmouth and looked a good player in the World Cup.

We’re not sure if there’s any truth in these rumors, but Boateng would be a good buy for Newcastle, before the end of August.

Boateng has played 6 times for the German U21 side and 6 times for Ghana.

Very interesting player. Loads of potential there. Still only 23. Would be a great player to sign. 3man central midfield of KPB, Guthrie and Barton. Routledge and Ben Arfa on the flanks and Carroll upfront.

He may be overrated in the simplest sense of the word, but he certainly isn’t over priced at 5m.

He had a good season in a poor team & a very good world cup. I’m supprised he hasn’t been bougth & O’hara for that matter. I think that maybe with money tight, clubs are having problems selling players.

I feel this could be back up to the Ben Arfa deal.
If Ben Arfa falls through, then maybe we will turn our attentions to KPB.

Past experience? Not holding out for either!!!

KPB would be great at newcastle if we add a holding midfeilder now and a striker europe may be a target
starting in 11 if he comes in
    perch colo williamson enrique
guthrie smith (would require a better player)
Ben Arfa KPB Jonas ( these 3 would have free roles almost)

Im no fan of Joey Barton, BUT if we didnt have him against Rangers, then there would have been nothing going through the middle of the park.

Mixed feelings about this. I think he played a really good WC, but the few times I saw him with Pompoey last year, he couldn’t impress me. But I would go for him, cause I think he can improve our squad.

@NUFC_Richyg01; I agree with you 100% about Barton. But I would love to see Arevalo as our new CDM.

His problem is techinically he is not that good. Hes got pace and strength typical of a african player. We need players with tactical nous and technique. Guiterez and Routledge we already have pace. Therfore, he is right fit. Wow some people here dont really rate our current crop value wise. everyone seems to be an expert on inflation and what players will go for 🙂
