Newcastle have so far brought in James Perch, Dan Gosling and Sol Campbell to strengthen the ranks for our return to the Premier League next season.
James Perch – Newcastle’s first signing this summer
But we still need at least three more players and we have only until the end of the month.
The deal with Ben Arfa seems to have hit a snag, with Marseilles intentional putting the deal in abeyance, but that deal could still go through in a few days time, and would be an excellent acquisition for Newcastle, giving us some much needed attacking flair.
With the lack of penetration shown by our strikers last Saturday, Chris may be wanting to bring in another striker, and another winger would also be good to cha;llenge Routledge and Gutierrez.
We would expect one more loan signing – in addition to Ben Arfa, and maybe one player transferred in, but it appears that Chris has very little to spend, and maybe no more than around £6M this summer.
We think the three players he has brought in are good ones, and all three seem to be good deals, and Newcastle are waiting to see what French club Marseilles will now do, after they supposedly verbally agreed the loan amount for the French International, but then reneged on that.
If nothing happens in the next couple of days that deal could proceed forward and Newcastle could get the player.
But we really have little idea who the other two players Chris is after will be – as he does very well in keeping his targets secret, which of course gives Newcastle a decided advantage, and Chris and the Newcastle club have already done several good deals last January and during the summer.
Twenty days is time enough to get the players in, especially when most deals get done during the last couple of weeks of the transfer market.
Who do you think Newcastle should bring in – either on loan or in a permanent deal?
Comments welcome.

Comment #121wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see FFS put his 2 pence in once the ship is steadied to try and plunder once again…

I think Shola needs to go one way or another.
To be honest, he has had his chances, he found his level last year, so why keep him?
I say sell the lad.

Comment #123So Ben Arfa is out the window then?
Oh well I can see our “2 signings” been very disapointing to say the least. If we want to do well next year we need to take a gamble and sign a player who could actualy improve the squad, Ben Arfa is that kind of signing, yes he seems like a bit of a prick but thats the only reason we have a chance of signing him (and he would improve us immensley).
I dont know exactly what is going on behind closed doors, but it seems as though we just are not willing to splash out any cash at all, anything over the 2 mill mark seems to be a no go.
Our squad currently has no spark, it has a decent set of players, and I think we could comfortably get a 15th place finish due to other sides around us been fairly poor, but there is nothing in the side that can just switch on and win us a game (ala Martins).

Comment #124The reason we should keep Shola is because we have no-one else.
We litteraly have 5 strikers in the side, 2 of which we don’t know how they will be next year (Xisco & Ranger). God forbid if both Carroll and Lovenkrands were injured we would be left with the huge gamble of plaer Xisco and Ranger up top.
Now Shola gets far too much stick, yes when we had the likes of Shearer and Owen in the side that stick was well called for, but as of current he’s no worse than what we have in 1st choice, and certainly no worse than some of the dross the other sides who will populate the bottom 5-6 of the league have.

Comment #125Am I the only one who doesn’t envy Man city with all their money?
I can see nothing but trouble brewing there with their chaotic transfers and now Bellers and Shay have started crowing there could be some good loan signings coming up.
I can see City having to let some go and still be paying part of the wages.
I’m sure CH is watching with interest as they are still adding to their squad!!
Fergie must be having a chuckle cos they’re ‘throwing’ that squad together. I hear Tevez is none too pleased either! hee hee

Comment #126I maybe don’t envy the way City are just signing people for the fun of it (I think it’s just getting rediculas now as the 25 man ruling has shown), but I would love us to be in the situation to such a thing, instead of having to settle for Perch and Gosling etc. Don’t get me wrong I think those 2 could be good signings for the club, but i’d prefer us to be signing players like James Milner (back), Adam Johnson, Yaya Toure, David Silva etc etc, I think you get the drift.

Comment #127Infact it’s making me depressed how far we’ve gone backwards since Robson was sacked.

Comment #128Maybe our time will come again in the future but at the moment I’m actually excited to find out how the lads will cope.
I’m sure MA will sanction some spending if we get some early hammerings but we only have one agenda next season…staying up and I’m pretty confident we will achieve that and more.
City on the other hand, have to win the league with that squad or heads will roll for sure; they aint gonna be satisfied with 4th are they?

Comment #131Dont worry about ben arfa lads i have friends in Marseilles and they say he is equally livid about OM playing games with us for his transfer. It even says in their local papers ( i speak french ) that he was looking foward to playing aganist manure on monday and that his agents are appalled by OMs tactics to try and get more money for him.
I look foward to watching him play i dont know if i want him to have a good game because if he does intrest in him will only increase !
anyway here are links for the france game for those who dont want to watch the over rated England play ( not to say france are better lol !)

Comment #132Hopefully we get all 3 players we need. Hatem Ben Arfa, a class striker like bellamy, and Patrik van Aanholt.

Comment #133Just home from seeing Ben Arfa live at Ullevåll Oslo Norway. He impressed me, scored a beautiful goal and I really hope we land him! Redknapp was on the stands though and that could mean serious trouble for us 🙁
