News yesterday that Newcastle United striker Leon Best is almost certainly out of Monday night’s PL season-opener at Manchester United.
Leon Best – may have ruptured ankle ligaments
It seems the Newcastle United striker has suffered some kind of ankle injury during training on Tuesday.
There are reports that Best may have ruptured his ankle ligaments, and if that’s true that would be a long term injury with the former Coventry striker facing three months on the sidelines.
Chris Hughton told the Shields Gazette yesterday.
“We’re still assessing that one,” “It was an ankle injury that he picked up in training.””At the moment, it looks like he won’t be available for Monday.”
Best has looked sharp in pre-season and has scored two good opportunist goals, but if he is indeed out for up to three months that will put extra pressure on the Newcastle manager.
And in that case it will certainly 19 year-old Nile Ranger will not be going anywhere on loan, as will be need at the Tyneside club.
We have to hope Leon’s injury is not ruptured ankle ligaments, and that he will be fit again in a lot less than three months.
He was looking good in pre-season.
