Williamson Could Turn Out To Be Big Bargain Buy For Newcastle

Mike Williamson will get the nod on Monday night to partner Fabricio Coloccini in Newcastle’s central defense, and one of the players they will be up against is Wayne Rooney.

Mike Williamson – looks a good player at Newcastle

Mike believes that respect has to be given to Rooney, even though he was hopeless for England during this summer’s World Cup, but Wayne still scored 35 goals for the Red Devils last season.

Williamson told the Evening Chronicle today:

“As a young lad you dream about pitting your wits against the best players in the world.” “That’s what Wayne is.”

“I’m not taking anything from recent form, he’s one of the best players in the world.” “I’ve got respect for him.”

“I’ve watched him play and he can make something happen out of nothing at any time in the game.”

“But he’s going to be just one to watch along with the other 10 players who get the nod!”

Sol Campbell, Steven Taylor and Tamas Kadar are all out injured at the moment, and this is a perfect chance for the former Watford player to prove that he is good enough to be a force for Newcastle United,  in the Premier League this season.

If Mike can display the same solid form he’s shown since he signed last January from Portsmouth, he will prove to be one of Newcastle’s best bargain buys ever – at just £1M.

And it seems that Williamson is ready to fight for his place at Newcastle this season, as he continued:

“It’s a great opportunity, there are a lot of good center-halves here and the competition will be fierce.”
“I got the shirt against Rangers and hopefully I will keep it.”

Williamson was signed in January and plays in a very relaxed and composed manner at the heart of the Newcastle defense, and he is also good in the air, as he stands 6’4″ tall in his stocking feet.

Mike is already well liked by the Newcastle fans, as he talked about next season’s tough challenge:

“We’re not going to turn up to be rolled over at all.” “We are going there with the mentality ‘we’re Newcastle United and we’re here to prove a point’.”

“That can happen, we need to go out and show we can do something special on the night.” “Whatever team they put out is going to be top quality.”

“They have so many internationals, they are possibly the best team in the country.”

This lad’s attitude and temperament are just first rate, and we’d love to see him do well for the Magpies this coming season.

If he can keep his place on merit in the Newcastle side, that will auger well for how he personally is doing, and how well Newcastle could do this coming season.

Howay The Lads!!

he could safe us allot of points with his height but he will lose us allot more points with his movement.

Kenny Miller’s movement is really good, he is not a bad attacker. He’s quite weak though, with a bit of steel he would be a decent Premiership striker.

Williamson looks like an average defender to me, best buy ever? No way. He’ll never match the signings of Bernard, Rob Lee, Albert, Cole and Ginola.

which Bernard? Don’t tell me it’s Olivier cause he’s no way near the other names u mentioned.

Williamson is good in the air, but a bit slow. If opponents keep pumping long balls to us then he could be a bargain, if not…

I think he will prove to be a quality signing, and he can make it in the EPL.
Lescott, R Johnson, Jagielka, Turner, A Ferdinand – all centre backs who’ve had their upbringing in the CCC and become good EPL players.

I never ever will rate Mike Williamson high. He is just championship level 4 ever. Never will change. Has no speed, can only header at our goal for some reason, can’t do crap, he is just the worst signing ever.
