Ben Arfa has added to the slanging match going on between the Olympique Marseilles club and the player and his representatives today.
Ben Arfa – Chris Hughton understands me
Ben Arfa has not only come out and criticized current Marseilles manager Didier Descahmps, but has also said that Newcastle manager Chris Hughton understands him and who he is, and that is the main reason he wants to join Newcastle United.
These are the 23 year-old’s comments directed at current Marseilles manager Didier Deschamps:
“It’s because the club officials don’t give a damn about me that today I announce that I am prepared to put my career on hold if they do not accept the offer from Newcastle as agreed at the start.”“I am prepared not to play all season.”
“I am not just a sack of dirty washing or a piece of shit. I will do what it takes and I will organise myself to train physically.” “When he (Deschamps) talks to me I always have the feeling that there is something else going on inside his head.”
“The coach, Deschamps, can say what he wants, it’s over. I was undesirable 3 weeks ago and now I am indispensable?” “If I had any doubt I would have dropped Newcastle from the beginning.”
“I know what Chris Hughton thinks about me – he understands who I am – what kind of player I am. It’s for this reason that I’d like to join Newcastle.” “It’s over.”
“I’m ready to not play for OM this season. I have my pride, my dignity. I’m not a make-weight.”
We can only assume from these comments that Chris has already talked with the player – and has duly impressed him.
But this situation is getting a little too bizarre for everybody – and the sooner it is all worked out and brought to a conclusion – the better for all concerned.
But we still expect Ben Arfa to be a Newcastle player before we meet Aston Villa next weekend, and there’s no doubt that this lad will be a challenge for any manager – including Chris Hughotn.

Comment #81I would like to see newcastle be physical with man utd tonight, i think hughton might put jonas on the bench tonight, as he has been going on about his summer break and saying he is slightly behind the rest of the squad, i hope he doesnt play guthrie on the left wing 🙁
Newcastle could also go 4-4-2 with jonas, nolan, guthrie and barton across the midfield, and routledge playing off carroll, but i still think hughton will go 4-5-1 with nolan supporting carroll when he can.
howay the lads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
