Ben Arfa Returns To France To Talk With Marseilles Officials

Hatem Ben Arfa has been asked to return his Marseilles club, according to sources in France.

Hatem Ben Arfa – returning to France

The 23-year-old French international, along with his representatives, have been in Newcastle since Friday afternoon, in the hopes of forcing a loan move through with Newcastle United.

But the news is that the 23 year-old has now left Newcastle and is returning to Marseilles,  where he will meet with the Marseilles officials, to see if they can work something out with the player.

This was not unexpected, as the Marseilles club said they would move on the Ben Arfa front come Monday morning, after giving a few days for both parties to calm down a little, and therefore the player’s return to France is not a surprise.

The question now is whether a deal can be made between the two clubs, which seems to be the thing holding things up – and of course until a deal is agreed, Newcastle should not be talking to the player.

If Newcastle cannot agree a loan deal with Marseilles, then Newcastle will need to move on with just 15 days left of the summer transfer window.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle and Marseilles cannot agree a loan deal, and if that is the case then nothing further can be done.

But with the parties presumably fairly close, and the player wanting desperately to play for Newcastle, we’d be surprised if a deal is not forthcoming.

And yes we know – we hope a deal is forthcoming. 😀

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

I think a deal will be reached, one way or another, because of the way it has been handled, it has done us a favour really beacause all other potential suitors have backed away because they dont want to get caught up in the wrath of OM.

I think that the arfa case this is a loss cause.:(
They should look for decent players in the championship since they dont monnies to spend on players.
Leroy fer is not an exception.
If you looked in the transfers made within the start, youll see that not exceeds 1m.
    Dan and sol on free.
    And maybe 800k for perch.
    Thats it.:/

4-0 Man U, and a much needed wake up time for all concerned for a lousy 3 months of inadequate pre-season preparation – shameful.

Remember, we couldn’t beat Bristol City away or Ipswich at home with this SAME squad (plus Perch minus Best), htf do we now expect to beat Man U? What’s in the coffee today, happy drops?

Meanwhile re: Arfa. He is under contract to OM, period. If I was the club owner I’d wipe the bloody floor with him, if I was CH I would have sen him packing on the first plane back. 23? Sounds like 9 1/2!

This is not professional at all, and we would hate it if another club did it to us. Besides, it’s not making us friends, or helping our cause as a club to be trusted – which in turn could well wreck our chances of other (and wiser) signings.

I can’t see anything but a Manure win sadly, best we can hope for is a draw tbh. As long as we don’t do a Wigan or West Brom, I can cope with a loss to Man U

if i was OM i would have said fine dont play then, and just fined him a weeks wages for every week he was away, he would sharp change his mind.

And I think the score could go either way, if they score early it will be 3 or 4 nil, but if we keep it tight, and after 35-40 mins its still 0-0, it could be game on, we need r taylor to play right back, set plays will be massive for us tonight, and his delivery is needed if we are to get the best from carroll, keep barton away from the free kicks, guthrie and r.taylor are best at set pieces.

It would be funny if L’OM agreed a fee with us, only for the player to want something stupid like £60k a week wages & for us to tell him to poke off after all this saga… lol

    Lesh…
Au contrair Lesh@19, there is everything to decide – and the only decision that actually matters is the OM owner.

Deschamps has already stated.. “I never said I did not want him,” so no probs there.

Now as for Arfa and his posse, it matters not a jot what they think. Arfa signed a contract, he is bound by it unless OM release him. He was big enough to take the money, he now needs to be big enough to honour the terms. I am supposing he did read them?

solaidback he is currently on 52k per week, so he would want that at least i would imagine, so i dont think you would be far wrong, but im sure ashley and his agent have discussed that, unless thats why they are only interested in a loan.

Captain – You, I and everyone else knows that a football contract is not worth the paper it is written on.

In theory it should be, in practice it never is, and there are tons of examples to back that up.

Solaidbck – In relation to ya comment bout owner wipin flow with afra , i dont agree, they needed the money and told ben afra hes not wanted and can find another club then afra has been told loan agreed with nufc for them to sell a diff player and no longer need to sell. He plays class for france set heart on toon and its all taken away from him again . So why would he want to carry on playing for them after being told he not wanted? they should of honoured his contract , rather than treat him like shite

We really need this deal to be sorted out because we are still with out a creative midfielder.

I think we need a striker as well with good pace because it’s not fair on Carrol to put the pressure only on him regarding goals. He’s still developing and learning his trade ………..

With a good striker plus Ben Arfa I think we will be ok this season ………..
