We heard these stories yesterday and wondered if there was any truth in them but there is news that Ben Arfa may be acquired by AC Milan in a part exchange deal.
Ben Arfa – off to Italy?
Marseilles midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa could be on his way to Italy, and that’s according to the Corriere dello Sport, who say that top club AC Milan are trying to work out a deal with the French club that will allow them to capture the 23 year-old midfielder.
As we all know Ben Arfa went on strike late last week, after his proposed loan move to Newcastle was called off by the Marseilles club, but he returned to Marseilles yesterday and now awaits his fate.
The reports suggest the Italian club is ready to offer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for Ben Arfa in a part-exchange deal.
But we have no idea if this report is true, and only yesterday there were similar stories floating around, but in that case the Italian club was said to be Inter Milan who were interested in the young Frenchman.
As this story drifts away from Newcastle being able to capture the youngster, so will our interest in this saga.

Comment #81davybtoon sorry there is no comparison between ben arfa, and nasri and benzema, ben arfa is a talent, no doubting that, but he doesnt score enough, and isnt great at crossing, his strength is his dribbling ability, and is ability to take on and beat players

Comment #82According to rumors reported by Studio Sport, the playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa for some time en route with Marseille and AC Milan recently approached not boast a great appeal in the top Rossoneri. Il talento ancora in parte inespresso, è stato inserito in orbita Milan, soprattutto a margine dei continui rumors che vedrebbero Huntelaar interessare alla società transalpina. The talent still untapped in part, was inserted into orbit Milan, particularly on the sidelines of the ongoing rumors that the company would see Huntelaar affect trans. Indubbie le doti tecniche e lo spessore del talentuoso fantasista, un po’ meno cristallino il carattere, bizzoso. Undoubted technical skills and the thickness of the talented playmaker, a little ‘less crystalline character, irritable. Non è questo il fattore che frena Galliani e co. This is not the limiting factor Galliani and co. ma quello prettamente tattico ed economico. but the purely tactical and economic. The Rossoneri would recover liquids from the disposal of the attacker and the Netherlands, would the focus firmly on Ronaldinho makes the hypothetical port of Ben Arfa in that Milanello much less feasible and acceptable.

Comment #86benny wants 1st team footy and thats not really available to him in either milan so can’t see that happening.
Also if 5 mil is such a steal for him than why are we the only epl team linked with him?
Other teams have had weeks to come in for him while all this has been going on and yet nowt. I think that goes to show that maybe 5mil isn’t the steal it seems. It could yet be a steal if he reaches his potential but you’re being a bit nieve if you think it’s a certainty.

Comment #90There’s so many things wrong with this ‘rumour’.
1) It’s come from a paper.
2) Papers get their information from fans. (E.g. on time I mentioned on here and one or two other places Senderos on a free would be a good deal. Two days later it was in The Sun! Another occasion I thought about seeing how little research they’d do so I said Liam Lawrence on a free would be good (knowing he wasn’t on a free). Then NEXT DAY it was in The Sun saying we were to discuss terms with him after his contract at Stoke had run out!
3) Just because it’s in a different language doesn’t give it any more credibility. This goes to people that post French links about Ben Arfa signing for us too.
4) Why would he want to go to AC Milan? Th whole point for him coming here was to use us as a stepping stone. He plays one or two (hopefully excellent) seasons and then moves to Man U, Chelsea or whoever. Suits both parties. If he moves to AC Milan he’d be taking a step backwards towards his dream. Milan are no longer that big a draw as Serie A is seen as a poor league, so no one watches it. Ben Arfa’s idea was if I have a good season in the EPL then I might get a move to whoever.
5) As seen by Bellamy’s move to Cardiff. The players have the say where they move. Not the club, so even if they wanted him to move he can just say ‘No’.

Comment #94i found it on newsnow.co.uk under newcastle united. It just said ben arfa was close to leaving for newcastle. No other clubs were even mentioned so relax everybody. We need to stay cal,. Last night wasnt as bad as some of yall are making out. At least we dont have to go back to old trafford again…lol next week against villa will be a real good test as to how well we can cope in the prem league. Villa are a top half team but they are NOT man u or chelsea. We should be able to at least get a point if we play well and the toon army does its thing at st. james. We need some players in no doubt, and shley knows that now cuz he was at the game. But even if we didnt get another player we will survive. I just think that ashley will not risk it because he will lose everything he gained back by us getting promoted and then another 100 million pounds. He isnt stupid he will do the right thing. I know its hard to believe in him because of what he has done to our club, but he is really trying to right by newcastle now and i think you will see us do some spending this week like its urgent,,,,,
all the way from the usa,

Comment #95Ashley should act now we have 8,055 unsold seats for Sunday & that’s if villa sell their allocation, so in short will not buying anyone fill the empty seats, over £241,000 worth of seats this does not make Ashley’s plan hold up, spend £5-6mil on this player almost 4.2 million worth of seats then could be sold so the true price could be as low as an outlay of £800k plus wages

Comment #98Well it’s been awhile since we’ve done this so. Revised signings list.
If you could bring in a maximum of 3 players who would they be (maximum of around £3 million plus money from outgoings)
I’d go for:
Hatem Ben Arfa – Loan
Wilfred Bouma – Free
or Patrick van Aanholt – Loan
and a ST that costs £4 mil
Out: Kazenga LuaLua – £500,000 – £750,000

Comment #99Wait a few more hours and we will all know if Arfa will be a Newcastle player soon, as for criticising Ashley on the Arfa affair indicates mentality of a five year old.
The fault lies on OM door and it would have been immatured and stupid for Ashley or Houghton to give in to the blackmail because this is what it is.
OM have retracted on original aggreement they threaten us if we speak to Arfa when he voluntary flew to North East and now maybe have payroll a totally unreliable Italian, so call journalistic outfit, to spread rumours about AC Milan.
I personally have no sources and I cannot say for sure what will happen but logic indicates that Arfa wants to sign for NUFC and OM does whatever they can to milk as much as possible from the affair

Comment #110I hope im wrong but if the link to Ben Arfa is as true as it has all appeared, that we are not putting all our eggs in one basket. If we sign him that will be it for our signings mark my words. If we dont i just think Hughton may fall back to 2 players from the Championship. Its dissapointing as we are powerless, but thats years of mis-managment both from Shepherd/Ashley. Campbell and Gosling could prove to be influencial if they become fit before its too late.

Comment #119Ok, cant find anything over here, apart from OM saying they are still waiting for the ‘right offer’. But in other good news it seems old Zoggers is off to OM which may possibly mean Ben Arfa is off to us?
But as far as I can tell no french sites reckon he has gone back to Newcastle!
