Latest Newcastle Injury News For Game Against Aston Villa

Newcastle had three youngsters on the bench last night in 17 year-old  Haris Vuckic, and 19 year-olds Nile Ranger and James Tavernier, which is an indication of  just how short Newcastle are for experienced players right now.

Peter Lovenkrands – expected to be fit for Sunday

Those three youngsters are going to be good players of course in the future, but are hardly ready to play at Old Trafford yet.

Newcastle had injuries to Steven Taylor, Danny Simpson, Danny Guthrie, Dan Gosling and Peter Lovenkrands for last night, and Sol Campbell is still not fit,  so those six players not being available necessitated Chris bringing in the youngsters.

Hughton does hope to have both Guthrie and Lovenkrands fit in time for Sunday’s important game at home to Aston Villa, which is good news.

This is what Chris said about the two this morning:

“Danny felt his knee two days ago, and Peter felt his groin the day before the game.” “They both travelled, and we expected both of them to be fit.”

“It was a bit of a blow not to have them available, but the fact that they were very close means we’re very hopeful they’ll both be available.”

And we still have no idea how long Ireland International striker Leon Best will be out for, after he suffered an ankle injury last week.

Chris talked about Leon:

“We’re still assessing that one and we’ll make everybody aware when we know.”

So last night the squad was a little threadbare, to say the least, and Newcastle must strengthen the squad over the next two weeks.

We think Mike Ashley is smart enough to know that Chris needs at least three new players in before the end of the month, and we expect them to be drafted in.

But we also have to be patient, as the club are obviously working hard on some deals, and some of the names that have been  mentioned are good players to be sure.

We think the intensity of  working to bring new players in over these next two weeks, will have been turned up a notch or two after last night’s game.

We hope the intensity of  working to bring new players in over these next two weeks, will have been turned up a notch or two after last night’s game. 😀

Mike was at the match last night and so he must have seen how lacking we were and in which areas, and that will only back up what Hoots says to him.

Nail on the head, after last night the noticeable problems are now unmissable problems.

Even if Mike is only after profit and doesn’t care much about the club surely, SURELY, letting this side slip out of the league or at best fighting a season of relegation battles is not good financially.

We need, 100%, a playmaker. A Paul Scholes (or at least someone with half his talent) to open up teams and serve up as many chances as MacDonalds serve up beef burgers. Ben Arfa, wants to be here so why isnt he signed?! Its so hard to get on the clubs side when they are making such silly mistakes.

How about bringing Carrick on loan! IT WONT HAPPEN but we should try, since he is a good player who cannot get in the starting line-up for manurenited
Cardiff have signed bellamy on loan as they are his boyhood club so if carrick was to reject us then that would expose him as unloyal so he might just say YES

Regarding Ranger and Vuckic being on the bench, but not experienced enough to have a crack at Man United, I think you’re wrong there Ed. I’d gladly have had Ranger on instead of Ameobi and Vuckic on for Nolan or Smith.

Opportunities like that can make players.

    Davies –

I think in regards to Vuckic its painfully obvious why he isnt playing. CH said himself the guy is on a two year deal, if Newcastle united arent ready to pay more and lengthen that contract they need to keep him out of the big boys eyes.

If a big club see him playing as well as he can for us on a short contract he’ll be tapped up and a move ill be forced. However if they get him on a long 4-5 yr deal we still cant stop him but we can sure as hell get our moneys worth!

Davies 100% agree, I would have started with vuckic playing off carroll instead of nolan, vuckic could do no more than nolan did, i wish i could watch the match again and focus just on nolan, i want to see what he actually contributed in the game

magpietillidie22, vuckic will demand a transfer if the doesnt get chances, so dont really see that, he has already hinted at it already, so has kadar, they both need to be playing, along with ranger and krul, if vuckic was playing, he would sign a new deal in my opinion, if he was offered one now, no way would he sign it

    Geordielad880 –

I didnt say it made sense lol, but knowing this regime that is exactly what they are doing.

I would have been playing Vuckic since he cam back from injury, and before if im honest. I’ve seen rooney’s and fabregas’s thrown in the deep end at a younger age and the same old expression comes to mind – if your good enough your old enough.

Vuckic coming on for nolan last night would have given us a much better link in attack. It was so frustrating watching us pump the ball forward, carroll head it on and absolutely no1 being there.

vuckic is ready, and has been for a good while, watched him a few times in the reserves, he had everything, he is so different to what we have, he just needs to work harder, and also change his boots, you cant wear yellow boots until you have proved your class lol 🙂

Ive seen him to and yes he is most definitely ready. Hopefully he plays in the game against acrington stanley and shows the world on TV how good he is forcing CH’s hand.

Why do managers stick with the names. I have never got it. I bet Vuckic and ranger out work and out play most of the first team everyday in training

ranger is still raw, but he offers so much more than ameobi, he holds the ball probably the best our of all our forwards, and he has good pace.

I would like to see us play something like this against accrington:-

    lua lua——-barton———-guthrie——ferguson

with ranger coming on second half in place of guthrie and vuckic moving into midfield

CH will never leave out that many names unfortunately. If he did however, id play:

I dont think ranger is too raw, Beginning of the champ he looked formidable, he needs games as does carroll but if ranger had the run in the team carroll did who knows how far he’d have come on

im trying to think of the right words, raw is a big harsh on the lad, he needs to be more selfish for one, he needs to improve certain areas of his game, is that better? lol

Thats a decent line up aswell, plenty of experience and we would dominate the key area, the midfield

Last night had a lot of positives, ManU for the moment are playing at their best, beating Chealsea last week the way they did proves it, so what chance we had at Old Trafford?
Ch knows the score and I am sure that next few games will show us what the club will do this season, my oppinion is that it will be difficult but we have the squad to keep us in the PL and put down the basis for a push up the table next season.
As for the youngsters they will have their chance in the next two months but Old Trafford is not the place to ask them to show us what are capable of, moral and confidence could be dented.
