Newcastle Reported Interest In Alhassane Keita – We Hope Not

News today that Premier League clubs Newcastle United, Stoke City, and West Ham are interested in signing Mallorca striker  Alhassane Keita.

Alhassane Keita – Mallorca striker interesting Newcastle?

Keita stands 5’6″ tall has struggled at RCD Mallorca since signing for the Spanish club in 2008 from Al-Ittihad, so why Newcastle would be interested in this player we have no idea.

Add to that the fact he’s 27 – and this story is probably completely made up – and if it isn’t we’d hope it was.

The Mallorca club is in administration and have been barred from the Europa League so they are in desperate need of funds, so maybe he can be bought for a low price, but we don’t see how he would make the Newcastle squad any better..

Keita is quoted as saying:

“People can talk about a lot of things but at the moment I am training with Mallorca. There is interest from other clubs though.”

The player has just 8 goals in 48 appearance for Mallorca, and while at his previous Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ittihad, he fared a lot better with 28 goals in 40 games.

But we cannot believe this player is a target for Newcastle.

What we’d like to see  Newcastle interested in,  are players with some flair and class, because we found out on Monday night the squad is desperately lacking those qualities.

Comments welcome.

Frankly I think our team reflects Hughton’s personality. All hard work ( no bad thing I admit) and ”functional” We have artisans, no artists. We seriously lack class, flair, pace and in some cases, fitness.

Hughton is the polar opposite to KK in that aspect, but one thing he does have in common with KK is that he won’t play the youngsters, Carroll excluded.

I think Ranger is a far better technical player than Carroll who seems to be very in with Nolan and Vuksic has to be a better bet for creativity than some of our slow paced, one dimensional midfielders.

If we buy no one, and I assume no capital outlay means just that, then recruit from within. Krul and Kadar are good to go too.

on .com it says OM president has sent newcastle the offer for 800k they originally had for loan with view to permanent yesterday but no reply. Ashley must still be making his way to the fax machine. i know we can’t trust what he says, but surely this has to be sorted out. Even west brom are close to signing some nigerian international striker! We are being pummeled in the transfer market as always. A few injuries and hughton won’t have a choice but to play the youngsters. heres hoping…….

Rylandhall, they always, ALWAYS sign in under a different name to stop rumours like that, so I doubt there’s any truth in it

Isnt jesmond dene house 4*? lol

And in all honesty, if Carroll is our number its safe to assume he’ll be a regular and Cruz is of a similar mould and has no pace.

I dont like to think that CH is so stupid to add another striker to play alongside carroll that is pretty much identical

haha interesting news if true Rylandhall.. we could do worse than getting RSC here on loan but still he’s not what we need. We already have aerial ability and muscle up front. We need pace so desperately up front and in midfield.

Santa Cruz won’t come I am pretty sure he is going to West Ham. Also it doesnt make sense to get him here. A Keane type of small pacey striker is a better bet on loan I think, if we do indeed get a striker which looks unlikely at the moment!

Magpietillidie, 4 words: Les Ferdinand – Alan Shearer.

Possibly the best strike partnership in Premier League history made of two players that were almost exactly the same

It was a good partnership but i wouldnt go THAT far in praise lol

Geordielad880 is spot on with the pace aswell. Im not saying two of the same wouldnt work anywhere but at our club we dont need another carroll, we need another bellamy

Okay maybe a bit far, but still 50 games between them in one season is ONE of the best tallies in Premier League history.

Also Carroll has more pace than people give him credit for. I reckon he’s about on a par with Shearer pace wise.

    Santa Cruz, well…

Honestly, yeah, and i think your right. Out of him and ameobi, xisco looked more lively and i suppose he looks different to what we have.

Obviously when Lovenkrands comes bk he’ll go straight to the front of the queue and rightly so as IMO he is probably the best all round forward we have on the books

IMO ameobi is fairly good at holding the ball up with fairly good footwork, but xisco looked like he had a turn of pace and could cut inside and shoot. Really hope ch gives him a chance, he looked a different player to last games he played at start of last season. Maybe year in spain has done him good.

ED, i love what you do for us but seriously, why pass judgement on a player you know nowt about? I guarentee, you’ve never heard of him, never seen him play, just look up his stats and say no thanks. How good do ben arfa’s stats look?
You don’t know how he was used, and you don’t know if he was stifled on a bad team.
I don’t either and thus i have no opinnion on him.
