Werder Bremen have made a whopping £6.5 bid for Marseilles star Ben Arfa today.
Ben Arfa – decision today?
And the French champions have promised the German club an answer today, on whether their offer is acceptable, while as we reported yesterday, Italian giants AC Milan have also entered the race for the 23 year-old.
Marseilles have sold two of their strikers – Mamadou Samassa to Valenciennes – and Mamadou Niang to Fenerbahçe, and news earlier in the week was that they were looking for two forwards, and it looked like if they could get them in, then Ben Arfa would be allowed to leave the club, but to which club?
AC Milan have offered Dutch forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as a swap deal for Ben Arfa, but this is unlikely to happen with Marseilles so short of money.
Werder Bremen of course have just sold Mesut Özil to Real Madrid yesterday for a cool £20M, and have the funds to change things around, and that may even happen today.
The news is that they have offered Ben Arfa a four-year deal worth around £70,000 a week, which is something Newcastle cannot possibly match.
So this long running saga may be coming to an end with Newcastle United seemingly missing out on a player who could have done a big job for us this coming season – and that’s not good news.
