Captain Kevin Nolan Calls For Big Backing Against Villa

Newcastle’s new  captain Kevin Nolan has today called on Newcastle fans to back the team big time on Sunday afternoon, so the lads can hopefully get onto their winning ways this season.

Kevin Nolan – plea to Newcastle fans

Newcastle first home game of the season is on Sunday Afternoon, with a 1:30 pm KO time, and Kevin told the Evening Chronicle today:

“We can definitely play with a bit more freedom – that can make the difference.” “With 50,000 fans getting on the backs of the opposition they will be our 12th man this year without a shadow of a doubt.”

“They were fantastic for us last year, and not just when we were winning convincingly. They were fantastic when there were a few sticky patches and they got us through them.”

“There weren’t too many sticky patches, but our fans were fantastic when we needed them.” “We’re going to need them more than ever this year and they’ve responded fantastically to the lads.”

“Hopefully they’ll continue to do that and hopefully we’ll continue to please them, because this set of fans belong in the Premier League.” “We need to keep them where they belong.”

Kevin Nolan was in the Newcastle team on that relegation  day in May, 2009, when Newcastle lost the game 1-0 at Aston Villa and were subsequently relegated.

The scenes afterwards showed Newcastle fans weeping as the unbelievable happened, and the Newcastle club was relegated for the very first time ever from the Premier League – it was just awful.

But revenge is hardly in the hearts of the Newcastle players on Sunday – we just need to rack up some points from the game against a very good side.

Kevin continued:

“I don’t think we can look back and even think about revenge on Aston Villa.” “We just have to make sure that there isn’t ever a day again like that one at Villa Park.”

“People keep asking me where can we finish. I say we would have taken 17th two years ago, so we would take 17th this year.” “We have to make sure we stay in the Premier League and keep building bit by bit.”

“I firmly believe that with the resources we have got we can go on to achieve massive things, but it has to be done properly.”

Kevin Nolan we think will be a great captain for Newcastle this season because he will show the example of never giving up in any game and giving his all for the Newcastle cause, and that will surely rub off on the other players

Much better than the captain who took the side down to the Championship a short 15 months ago – Michael Owen – he was just completely hopeless in so many ways for Newcastle during those last vital last 8 games of the season when he produced – absolutely nothing, and then left on his helicopter two days later without saying one word

Comments welcome.

    The backings there.

What id like to do is release a statement to the players, that CH makes them all sit down and listen to.

That guy would be a pointless transfer – 29, ok so he is quick, but I dont think he would get on the bench, let alone in the starting XI.

Nolan needs to realise that we dont need telling before every match that we have to get behind the team, thats a given, he needs to tell the players to play!

they must have sold 6,000 seats since yesterday then as they still had 8,000+ unsold seats on Thursday & 11,000+ for the Blackpool game.

Nolan is the captain so I suppose if any player should be saying something it should be him!

Bad choice to be our captain, cause if everybody is fit he should not make the starting eleven (and that is even without anybody coming in a fact!). Collo would be a much better choice.

Seeing as Kevin is doing a canny bit of pleading,
perhaps he should plead with Fat Ash to improve the squad.

generating the usual guff. Much rather see it on the pitch than read this stuff.

However, its a bit rich talking up the 12th man when the club don’t take half the ticket allocation for Old Trafford isn’t it.
