The saga involving Ben Arfa and his move away from Marseilles seems to get queerer and queerer every day.
Ben Arfa – could still arrive at Newcastle
The news of the last two days has been that the French International has been visiting German club Werder Bremen, who have £13M from just having sold German star Mesut Ozil to Real Madrid.
The news suggested the German club had made an outright offer of £6.5M for the Frenchman, and offered him high wages too, but that may have all been hogwash.
Just last night Werder Bremen’s Sporting Director Klaus Allofs denied the club were about the sign the Frenchman, and made this statement:
“We do not need a replacement for Mesut.” “While we always look for players to improve ourselves, Ben Arfa is not one of them.”
As we suggested last night this could mean that Newcastle are still in with a chance of signing Ben Arfa, but Marseilles wanted Newcastle to put in a clause in their loan offer, that they would sign the player outright at the end of the season, if they were still in the Premier League.
Newcastle have refused to do that – and exactly why they refused we have no idea.
But maybe Ben Arfa is still determined to come to Newcastle, and if that is indeed true, Marseilles may have no other choice but to send him on loan to Newcastle – after looking at all other options available – none of which may work out.
The Newcastle club have said absolutely nothing – zippo – about Ben Arfa so far, in this now rather long running saga of stage and screen.
That fact alone seems to be really upsetting Marseilles President Jean-Claude Dassier, who is said to be trying to start a bidding war for the 23 year-old, to up the price of Ben Arfa’s loan deal.
We’d like this saga to end soon, one way or the other, and preferably with the lad finally arriving on Tyneside – and if he does come to St. James’ Park it will be another coup for the Newcastle club – make no mistake about that.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Pfff this window is another Ashley show. Frustrating most of the fans (some on here think we are strong enough to survive), making NUFC look like a club full of jokes, …
We need CDM; creativity and striker.

our wishlists are the same.
Its plain and simple to see that those three are the BARE necessities to get us through the season

Comment #47i love some of the players and also managers optimism so far, we will get tonked a few times this season, but we just have to bounce back, and concentrate on the next game, nolan said that if i remember correctly, love his attitude, “if you think like that we will get tonked”, and also if we play your slow ass we will aswell!!! rant over!

Comment #62It’s all over the official marseille website that he’s signed up for five years so marseille wouldn’t be stupid enuf to give him five years without waiting for medical results to come back. Remy is their player. Nufc.co.uk wouldn’t ever announce a player signed then go back on it and neither can they. it’s just papers again making stuff up. That said ben arfa isn’t coming to toon. No chance now. Marseille president said decision would be made in two days and that was Tuesday. Now Friday, and deschamps says on official site he hasn’t heard from hba all week. Think he’s off radar till they say he’s got another bid/deal in place.
