Hughton’s Transfer Message To Newcastle Fans Today

Things have been frustrating in the transfer market for Chris Hughton these last several weeks,  but Chris has a message this morning for Newcastle fans.

Chris Hughton – loan signings a good option

Chris Hughton’s message to Newcastle fans, who are getting a little anxious now that time is getting short in the transfer market, was this today via the Evening Chronicle:

“I just want to get the players that I need, whether it’s short-term or long-term, by August 31.”

“By that time I want to have a squad in place that will see us through, certainly until the Christmas period.”

And should Newcastle win the race to sign the 24-year-old Ivory Coast International Cheick Tiote, the FC Twente star would give Hughton a lot more options in his central midfield positions.

Tiote is a powerful tackling defensive midfielder who would provide significant competition to Alan Smith, and would be a replacement for Nicky Butt, who left the club in the summer.

Talks are taking place over the weekend in an attempt to secure the player’s signature, with the Journal saying that Newcastle have offered £3.5M but the FC Twente club value their player at £4.5M.

So while there’s still a small gap there in the two valuations – that wouldn’t appear to be a big problem.

And of course Newcastle cans till sign a couple of players on loan, and we have to hope that’s exactly what Newcastle can do in the next 10 days of the transfer window.

I like the way Hughton goes about his business, its a refreshing change and a professional approach (anyone remember the days of Souness and how he used to mouth off about every player)… It would be nice to see Ben Arfa and Tiote in, followed by a Left Back.

I think Nolan is a great spokesman for the club, he is honest and forthright BUT I do see appointing him as captain as a bit flawed…

Let’s say (as unlikely as it sounds at the minute) Ben Arfa and Tiote in, we’re not gunna drop Gutierrez and Routledge is Hughton’s man, so again he’s unlikely to be dropped. That means there’ll be huge competition for CM places and with Nolan as captain he’s almost guarenteed a starting place, though not neccessarily on merit.

What’s the point in Chris Hughton even giving interviews when he says the same shit every time, he usually just deflects every question and never gives a direct answer. You could turn the sound off and still know the answers he’ll give.

    Here’s some of the usuals

. We are assessing what we currently have.

. We are looking to bring in the right players for this club at the right price.

. That is very much speculation.

    . It’s a difficult market.

. We are very much aware we need to bring in 1 or 2.

. We’re still very hopefull of bringing in the players we need before the window closes.

    . We’re very hopeful

I reckon he’ll use Kadar as a back up left back and not bother bringing another one in.

There isn’t much positive I can say right now so I’ll not say anything at all.

You guys do realise Hughton isn’t the man who negotiates with the other teams, right?

He provides a list of players for the higher ups to deal with. He also is asked by higher ups if some players would be ideal and he gives his opinion.

You need to get off CH’s back. He isn’t to blame for the club low balling with offers.
