News today in the News Of the World that Blackpool manager Ian Holloway wants Newcastle striker Leon Best, after Bournemouth’s Brett Pitman refused a move to the seaside club, saying the wages were not good enough.
Leon Best – Blackpool interested?
And last week’s resignation of Blackpool Chairman Karl Oyston, over agents being involved too much in the transfer of Premier League players, has made Holloway’s task all the more difficult.
And a 6-0 walloping at the Emirates yesterday by a rampant Arsenal side, has not helped things either.
The Newcastle striker was only signed form Coventry last January, and has yet to score a first class goal for his new club, and it was feared Leon had sustained ankle ligament damage just before the start of the season.
But his injury is now thought to be not as bad as first feared, but it’s very doubtful that Chris Hughton will want to lose Best, who looked good in pre-season and scored two goals.
And Ian Holloway may have to look at other clubs than Newcastle, to strengthen his Blackpool squad before the end of August.

Comment #2I think until pre season it would have been a definate LET HIM GO! but he could be a valuable player (in terms of backup) unless we sign a new striker

Comment #4If he signs I bet a tenner Harewood and him will BOTH out-score Andy Carroll, Blackpool will stay up and we will go down.
“If you love someone, set them free…” It’s just if you don’t love ’em it feels much more satisfying.

Comment #5er, the Blackpool chairman resigned cos he was about to be declared bankrupt, he just came out with all that crap to try and save face and deflect attention away from why he was really doing one!

Comment #10Now, why would we let go Leon Best? I know he hasn’t scored that much goals, but he is the perfect provider for his forward partnership. His physicality is really good. And he is still young.
