Fraser Forster Ready To Join Glasgow Celtic On Loan

22 year-old Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster is ready to go on another season long loan deal, this time to Glasgow Celtic,  subject to a medical.

Fraser Forster – Magpies’  highly thought of goalkeeper to move to Celtic?

The 22-year-old 6’6″ keeper is very well thought of at Newcastle, but is still currently number 3 behind 35 year-old veteran Steve Harper and Dutch U21 goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Forster was sent on loan to League One Norwich City last season, and he impressed greatly in East Anglia,  and Norwich manager Paul Lambert called him a world-class goalkeeper in the making.

Now the Hexham-born youngster is set to make it to the Scottish PL,  if he completes a medical on Monday morning, and new Celtic manager Neil Lennon hopes he will provide competition for Lukasz Zaluska.

In fact Chris Hughton, the Newcastle manager will hope he will start for Celtic, as the obvious purpose of a loan move is to get the lad some games under his belt – but that will largely up to Fraser.

Neil Lennon said today:

“He’s a big boy, he’s come highly recommended, I’ve watched him myself a couple of times.” “His age, 22, is the only thing going against him because otherwise he’s all the qualities you look for in a goalkeeper.”

“He’s got a massive presence and he’s come highly recommended from people in the game whose opinion I trust, so if the medical goes okay, we’ll take him on board.” “We’ve needed competition in that area so he’ll add to that.”

You’ve got to believe that he also came highly recommended by former Newcastle coach and player,  Alan Thompson, who is now helping Neil Lennon out as an assistant coach at the Glasgow powerhouse.

We think this could be a good move for the young goalkeeper, and if he’s as good as we think,  Fraser will be Celtic’s number one this season.

Comments welcome.

I’d only like to see him go to Celtic if he stands a good chance of starting for them. If not, loan him there until Christmas and then pull him out and into a club where he will play week-in, week-out.

@3, god only knows, perhaps, maybe, possibly or simply don’t know…take your pick! The chap on twitter reckons he was there today & was blown away or would you prefer he now wants to join bremen or he wants too much money or we can’t agree a fee….would like the lad but right at this moment I’m as happy as I have been for bloody years & I’m just going to enjoy the moment.

@9 – take your pick mate, there’s links posted all over the place we’ve got insiders posting from his b&b,agents & agents mates tweeting, most of the european soccer press & the lad who delivered his 12 inch hot & spicy all giving us conflicting story’s……and just for good measure he was spotted in an exec box at sjp.

brilliant performance by all the team .. I predicted 2-0 .. I’d take the 6-0 anyday .. barton .. carroll .. nolan .. williamson were immense .. hopefully with arfa in there we can get another playmaker and striker to open things up .. could be the difference between bottom half of the table or above ..

If hba joins, what position will he play in? I personaly think that second strikers position ( in which Nolan is playing atm) would suit him best.

Today all we were missing was the right wing to show what he can do. It looks like Routledge is just not Premier League type of player, he has couple of good times and than he just goes off always looses the ball. He is inconsistent most times. I think Routledge would be good off the bench. When the other teams legs are dead, and his speed might show at those times. Anyways all I’m saying is Hatem Ben Arfa would be just perfect. He would beat a defender with very ease. Just pulls off a trick and than creates goals. He would provide Carroll perfectly. He wants to wear the black and white so why not get him.

hi i would like to bring to your attention a thing…it could be nothing but it could also mean something.

I was watching CH match review on NUFC TV and at the final piece of the interview to journalist asked CH about our new addtion and confrimed the news and replied in the plural as if to say that there is more than one addition.

take a look, and let me know what you think about it

sorry lads on my mobile cant respond fast. no its not
isaac hunt. and yes i believ this lad. he called the
tiote deal 3 or 4 days before it was first mentioned
it. he knew about it before anybody even knew who
tiote was. so yes i believe him. he is good friends
with alot of football agents and has contacts inside
nufc. i know he is legit because a lad name caulkins?
who is a reporter has been thinking him for info and
also gave him credit for breaking tiote story. i
om have been stubborn about future fee and so has
ashley…hughton denied hba like he did tiote and we
    see what happened there…hwtl
