Newcastle After Manchester City Fringe Players

It appears that the Newcastle club have been successful in their pursuit of  Ivory Coast midfielder  Cheick Tiote,  of Holland club FC Twente.

Chris Hughton – interest in Eastland fringe players?

Cheick is just one of three new players that Newcastle manager Chris Hughton wants to sign before the transfer window ends in just 9 days time.

And news today is that Hughton has lodged an enquiry with Roberto Mancini of Manchester City,  about what they are going to do with all the players who will not make their first team 25 man squad, to be announced before September 1st.

Mancini has to trim his squad significantl;y before the end of the month,  and quite a few players will need to be moved out – probably on loan.

Chris Hughton admitted today he has made an enquiry at the Eastlands club:

“Yes, we have been in touch with Manchester City, yes we have had a conversation,”“Whether they’ll do business in the last week I don’t know, but we would like to if the chance arises.”

There are a number of the Manchester City fringe players that could interest Newcastle, and the best chance seems to be getting one or even two of their players on loan for the season.

Defenders Nedum Onuoha  and  Joleon Lescott, in addition to midfield star Michael Johnson, could strengthen the Newcastle squad for next season, that’s for sure.

Comments welcome.

How would we be able to pay their wages?? they’re all on around £90k a week, same as Bellend is at Cardiff.. 🙁

I’d take Johnson & Etuhu, not sure about the others tho… 🙁

“Bellend” is reportably only being payed 25k by Cardiff and the rest by City, so hopefully if we were to get a player or two it will be a similair agreement.

Off topic but L’equipe are reporting this morning that Werder are still in for HBA (boooooooo!)

    Translated:

Ben Arfa: Bremen still enjoy considerable
Despite the recruitment of the Brazilian leader Wesley Friday, the Werder Bremen dream always recruit Hatem Ben Arfa says the team Sunday. One of his advisers has joined Marseille hoping to conclude his transfer to Germany as soon as possible. For its part, the German club and play the shows uses the situation to bring down the price of the transaction (6,000,000 instead of the 8 expected).

That L’equipe article has been updated since I last checked, the rest reads:

At midday, Jean-Claude Dassier spoke on TF1, on the transfer of midfielder. “I hope he will find a club, there are still ten days, several European clubs are interested maisil n ‘ was not helped by his behavior (and) attitudes incompatible with professional status, ” commented President Marseille. He reiterated that he would do “nothing to interfere, disrupt or suspend the career of Ben Arfa. “I will not oppose it (a start) anyway, I will do everything so that it continues to play football, but hey, it does not help me …», concluded Dassier.

Same old unimaginative scenario – defenders, midfielders. We need pace on the wings and some intelligent playmaking. We must get away from this defensive mentality that is NUFC. We will never compete with the flowing and proactive football of Arsenal, Man U, and Chelsea etc so long as we continue with the present up and under over and out type of play.
Oh my where are the likes of Bobby, Kevin, Harvey etc gone go? Today is the acid test and we must do all we can to win well – or else Villa will punish us.

Me too Hitman, the only hope ive got is he’s in the crowd today ala Coloccini, doubt it like, Dassier would have mentioned it, if yesterdays rumours were true.

Man City players i would take:

    Joleon Lescott
    Shaun Wright-Phillips
    Greg Cunningham (Good young Left-Back)

The other players who may be available, Logan, Vidal, Etuhu, M. Johnson, Jo, Santa-Cruz etc would not improve us in any way!

Ericles – get a grip. We won’t be competing with those teams for a long old while yet, we are not that NUFC anymore. Draw today = Great result

Cheick Tioté continued his football career at Newcastle United. The 24-year-old midfielder signs after the medical examination of his work permit and received a contract with English Premiership club.

Tioté, who last summer with Ivory Coast took part in the World Cup in South Africa in 2008 made the transition from RSC Anderlecht FC Twente. The season before was Tioté on loan for Roda JC. In Enschede midfielder played 58 league games in which he once scored 22 times and came into action at European Cup matches for FC Twente. on fc twentey website

If that truly is our line up today then CH should be sacked for incompetence. He is pathetically predictable. Vuckic, Ranger or anyone else with creativity or pace will not see the pitch as a sub today as long as CH is pulling the strings.

Am I the only one who would love to see Roque Santa Cruz come to Newcastle? He was scoring for fun at Blackburn, Man City snapped him up and then promptly dumped him in the reserves. We could do with him playing alongside Carroll, he’s a decent finisher and wouldn’t be overly expensive surely?

CH put practically no pace on the pitch today against a somewhat pacey Villa squad. We have lost this match before it even starts. Well done CH you bloody fool. We will be lucky to lose by only one goal today. It pains me but I can’t see our squad besting Villa.
