Newcastle Announcement On Cheick Tiote Signing Soon

The Sunday Sun is reporting today that Newcastle have clinched a deal for Ivory Coast midfielder Cheick Tiote.

Cheick Tiote – a Newcastle player?

The news this morning is that Tiote has completed a medical and has also agreed personal terms with the Newcastle club, who are expected to confirm their 4th signing of the summer soon.

Of course the deal is dependent on a work permit being obtained for the player, and the fee has been reported as around £3.5M.

The 5’9″ player will be at the Aston Villa game today, but will not feature in the Carling Cup game at Accrington Stanley in mid-week,  but could be in the Newcastle squad for the game at Wolves next weekend – depending on getting his work permit.

The Ivory Coast International is fast and powerful and will certainly add some energy, creativity and zest to the Newcastle midfield – which  is exactly what we need.

Cheick played in all three of Ivory Coast’s World Cup games during the summer, and the 24-year-old was also pursued by West Brom and Everton.

But Newcastle is thought to have been Cheick’s first choice, and the Tyneside club has moved quickly to tie up the deal in the last few days.

Comments welcome.

If true very good signing now all we need is a creative MF player & a goalscorer.

A LB as cover for Enrique would be good as well.

We don’t HAVE to buy if we can’t find the right player.

PS Where’s the goals coming from to stay up…?

Yet another defensive player – wtf is going on – we have needed a creative mf with pace for years – since dyer and co left – and all we get is a DM and then to add salt into the wounds, not Fer but a slightly cheaper version.

Sent off first game no doubt.

This is a proper df mid and will see Smmith go.

Meanwhile I want to start a (hopefully) good luck streak. I have a brown ale and northern rock tjersey. Which should I wear tonight for the match cause I am in Australia

YES but only loan signing as Kadar is a proven L who we should loan to championship

The reason CH is buying Defensive midfielder’s is he wants to play 4-5-1 even at home.I am starting to doubt this guy now.How long will the crowd stay happy with 1 up front at home. What does that tell the likes of Villa.
    WE ARE SCARED OF YOU.
we should be attacking the likes of them at home.

What is the point in having 6 strikers if we’re only going to play 1 up front?? We might as well sell Best, Ranger, Shola & turn Lovern & Xisco into wingers if thats how CH wants to play our team from now on!!!

I hope the work permit is going to go thru successfully we really need this guy in the center defensive mid position. And he is still a young world cup star.

We have any number of midfielders, however not since Scot Parker have we had a midfield engine room type or as he has been described an Essien type player.
And it`s what this side has lacked more than anything, which if the guy lives up to his rep, runs the whole 90 mins. a physical, puts his foot in type who can pass the ball and in general run the side, then most of us will be happy
Sure it would be nice to have a Ben Arfa type to
compliment him in an attacking role.
With a future lineup something like,
    ********** Krul**********
    Onuoha**Taylor**Colo**Enrique
    ***********Tiote**************
    Lovenkrands*** Joey*****Jonas
    ***********Ben Arfa***********
    ***********Carroll************

    alan sheare.

HBA watched us at united and saw that we desperately needs him, so he told cashley “if im going to play with these amateurs like smith and perchy and embarrass my self week in week out – you’ll need to pay me 80 grand a week….” which cashley responded ” bugger off HBA, im going to buy this african superstar instead from Twente who now one knows where is and who now one never seen play before”….
there you have it…..bye HBA we will sorely miss you – like we miss modric and arshavin…..but thats how we deal with transfer windows at NUFC…..we might get sibierski backin the last hour though

sorry to disagree with you but a draw at home to villa isn’t a good result in my book.We should be beating teams like them at home.I can understand CH being scared of Man.u,Chelsea, and Arsenal. But Villa ffs we need to be beating them or we will be in a relegation dog fight. So are we going to play for a draw against the mid table teams, and attack wigan, blackpool, and west ham.Who will come and play 1-9-1
We went unbeaten last season at home and straight away CH puts the white flag up at home.Teams need to be worried about coming to S.J.P. not looking forward to it.
Howay CH play to win this game.

We’ve a number of midfielders, but we aint got anyone in his class. He plays like Viera, with abit more energy in him, and thats to say the least.

Same team same result – is CH so devoid of ideas or is it that there are no other formations he can play with the current squad?

Ranger and Viduc should get a half today – especially when we go 2-0 down

4-5-1 is great if you boss the midfield – but with the likes of nolan and smith in there they are too static and will et bypassed by the pace of the villa team.

WHY EVERYBODY ARE PUTTING ARFA IN THEIR “SQUAD” ?

it’s like we already signed him (right now there are only rumors). Relax.
