Newcastle Have Three Players In Sky’s Team Of The Week

Sky Sports are certainly giving Newcastle some  plaudits this morning as they have three Newcastle players in their team of the week.

Kevin Nolan – in Sky Sports team of the week

Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique all make their top team this week, and the performance of the week goes to – Newcastle United.

This is what they said about Newcastle today in selecting them for the performance of the weekend:

Who could possibly have predicted this? With the Magpies resoundly beaten in their opening game of the season versus Manchester United and Aston Villa looking rampant under caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald against West Ham, the former were expected to be in for another tough time.

However, after John Carew skied his penalty, Newcastle took advantage as they stunned their opponents, whose confidence drained away. Andy Carroll netted a memorable hat-trick, the moustachioed Joey Barton scored a peach to open the scoring while Kevin Nolan helped himself to a brace.

Andy Carroll is selected along with The Walcott as the players of the weekend, and this is what they had to say about Andy:

Carroll enjoyed a brilliant Sunday afternoon. The towering attacker grabbed his first goal versus Aston Villa in the 34th minute, drilling past Brad Friedel. His second came via a sweet left foot strike before he wrapped up the hat-trick late on, darting in on goal and keeping his cool.

It all sounds very good to us – here is the piece on Sky Sports.

Comments welcome.

    WOOHOO!
Well Played, Strange to get recognition from Sky!

I See Wallcott got a hat trick too.

Walcott and Carroll must surely be in contention for England as the two brightest youngsters in the country.

Good Work Andy, Nolan and Bull for making the team of the week and to all the team for the Performance of the week. Now lets make sure this aint just a one-off lads!

    HWTL!!!

Fantastic result and it’s changed everyone’s perspective on our chances this season. All of a sudden our squad looks better, especially with Sol, ST, Gosling and Tiote to come in; and, apparently one or two more!

The key is the spirit in the club and that’s how the successful teams do well.

My pride is sky-high at the moment and can’t wait to see how we do. It’s no coincidence that we won the league last year in a canter. Just shows that the team that got relegated was a disgrace with the quality we had.

Never mind, maybe relegation was a blessing in disguise; we may have been heading for bankruptcy!! 🙂

Thought Barton might have nicked a spottoo. He was superb yesterday. Even Xisco and Smith were impressive. Shola, I think, found his level last season and shouldb e shipped out before the end of the window. I’ve been overcome with a sense of dread when he’s come off the bench for us in the two games we’ve had already this season. I suppose even he has to get a pat on the back for yesterday; he made up for smacking the ball into the stands by nodding down for Carroll’s 3rd. Bless him.

I think Xisco should come on before Shola does, he has more pace and awareness, he showed both for Carrolls 3rd.

Hope this result silences the doooooom and gloooom lads on here, a was looking at some of the comments made just before the match and this was one comment a picked out just after he was told we were gonna be playing an unchanged team……
“If that truly is our line up today then CH should be sacked for incompetence. He is pathetically predictable. Vuckic, Ranger or anyone else with creativity or pace will not see the pitch as a sub today as long as CH is pulling the strings.”

ToonXI a think his name was….. Ed anychance you could delete some of ths shitee am sick of reading some comments which just doesnt help its not even supporting the cause, Amazing yesterday though not a bad word to say on anyone, Mike williamson is looking a great player

If we sell smithy we will regret it, he probably won’t play every game but he’s a handy player to have & the way the new dm plays he’s going to get plenty of bookings.

Smith to Everton, where you hear that one?

I think it would be good for Best to go out, even just on loan, and get some games under his belt.

That is, if we get a striker in!

Was at SJP yesterday to enjoy the match. WOW. The whole team were immense.

I too have seen this Best to Blackpool rumour but having watched the pre season games he was our best forward on view. So be careful what you wish for.

Also Smith to Everton????? I think Moyse is probably watching AC and sussing us out for our next game.

Suthy – agreed, and there were more disgraceful ones too, which I read on getting home. Notice they were not on holdingtheir hads up and apologising!!!!

Agred Noire9, we should keep smudger, ‘cos this new guy Tiote sounds like a hard case and plentyof cards could be coming in that area over the season.

Still canna wipe the smile of my face from yesterday.
