A Bonus Row At Newcastle – Sort It Out Quickly

The Daily Mail is reporting that Newcastle are facing a player row over bonuses.

Derek Llambias – Newcastle’s Managing Director

The news is that the squad, represented by captain Kevin Nolan, Alan Smith and Steve Harper, want a 50 per cent increase in the £1M bonus money the squad shared for winning the Coca Cola Championship last season.

But the Newcastle board are apparently not offering any increase at all in the bonus, even though the Premier League means a lot more money coming into the coffers of  the Tyneside club.

The Mail is reporting this has even led to heated disputes between both management and players, but of course we have no idea if any of this is true, although players’ contracts, with the bonus agreements included, are said to have remained unsigned.

And the players are said to be threatening to be uncooperative with club requirements over personal appearances and interviews for Newcastle United’s TV station, website and match programs, until the dispute is finally resolved.

As we said, we have no idea if any of this is true, but gossip papers always try to report bad news, especially about Newcastle, during a time when this is the last thing we want to be  happening.

If it is true, than hopefully it can and will be worked out amicably and quickly, and a resolution reached as soon as possible.

Hopefully – that will be the end of this story.

Comments welcome.

we won a game and did well, so now they have to invent things to attempt to create disharmony in the camp. Disgraceful excuse for journalism.

Southern papers yet again trying to stir things up because nothing dramatic is going on at the club for them to report.
    Pathetic.

The club and current set of players we have are the best there have been in years.

When everything is going well at the Toon the prats in the newspapers have to invent something. There may be a germ of truth in it but I don’t believe anyone at the club will want to go back to the atmosphere of 2 years ago.

Coming from the Daily Mail smells fishy, I propose a total boycot of this paper by all fans until they abandone this run down NUFC campaign

Well it won’t be the end of the matter if people take it seriously enough to reprint it.

Total crap from a crap paper that isn’t allowed into SJP. No quotes. It’s a non-story.

Why do you bother giving this sort of stuff oxygen.

All it does is encourage the bastards to write more crap.

But maybe you are doing it to maximise your hit counter. In that case, you are part of the problem. You’re no better than the Toon hating press.

Come on guys, it was reported in the Daily Mail on a Sunday so who is really going to believe it anyways!!!

I’m sorry but I don’t get this, is that suppose to be £1m between all the players, or between the 1st team players or just some of the team??

A 50% increase isn’t that much, I mean £500k extra for peice & quiet plus if it only effects the club requirements over personal appearances and interviews for Newcastle United’s TV station, website and match programs, etc, then as long as it doesn’t effect them playing or performing, then whoopyidoo!!

Having a pop at him for just writing his blog for which 1000’s of us are grateful for is bang out of order, I bet you wouldn’t post that comment on the Dailymail or TribalFootball news site, so why have a pop at one of our own!!!

(not)Solaidback – No. Aren’t I allowed an opinion? I thought that was why there was a place to put comments.

So if I want to have “a pop” at him for giving oxygen to scurrilous reports about the team I love, I’ll damn well do it. And if you don’t like that, mate, well, tough titties.

Just because Ed has a blog that people read doesn’t make him immune to criticism.

Gotta agree with the other lads, Stardust and Brisvegas, why have a go at Ed? He reports the news good or bad and does it excellently in my opinion!

As for this story, the Daily Mail (who Newcastle refuse to speak to) have somehow gotten a hold of a story, that no other paper (who Newcastle DO speak to) have gotten…No wonder they’re held up around the world as the bastions of honest and effective journalism…

Now then Hitman – saw your run in with Scumbag the other day!

Copied what he said – my interpretation was he basically admitted he was doing nowt now but taking advertising revenue (and since he doesnt do any articles that means – from Toonsys work!)

I have a few websites, everything he said was a nonsense – there’s hardly no work to do for him now “Hosting, design, plugins, advertising, squad and transfers”

Hosting – a program sits on a computer and he needs do virtually nowt – its coppers to host when you have multiple sites with someone like Media Temple and they do the work – even if he has his own server its a piece of cake.

Design – it’s done and fine tuned as a when – again no work.

Plugins are given freely by the community and updated easily and quickly

Advertising – its a few phone calls to sort and a contract or two – and thats already done – easy to take money once it is.

Squad and transfers – oh well thats 4 transfers this summer – god he must be stressed.

Good on ya fella – keep at the creep lol. (unlike Batty who is on a love in with him 😆 )

Im just throwing this one out – but maybe Scumbag wanted all of the originals out of the way as he thought he might have to share the advertising income? Thats just speculation though 😆

F*****g press, always trying to dig up s**t on us and dirty our name. They see we have a great thing in our win and they think ‘We can’t have good news reigning at Newcastle, lets get some dirt from the ‘club insider’. I bet he’s mentioned in the article even though he doesn’t exist. Massive animosity between players and management? I didn’t see that when they were celebrating our win on Sunday.
Any coincidence that the Mail are also banned from SJP?
CH is gonna deal with this as he always does, by showing how wrong this is, no doubt.

after suns performance it would be brave (stupid ) man to alter the carroll nolan partnership, so where does that leave xisco, loverboy, strolla, best nd ranger ?
i wonder where loverlands is gonna fit in this yr. i like nd rate him, but reckon this year he could be mid f nd forward replacement, rather than an automatic starter.
xisco nd strolla fightin 4 No1 supersub position.

Brisvegas, I remember when Keegan left and all the papers said it without confirmation a lot of people complained to Ed saying exactly the same thing; why give the story the time of day?

But it turned out to be true. I don’t think this is true, but it doesn’t mean it never will be – especially when it comes to Newcastle

More lazy journalism, how many stones from a far must be thrown before our football club take legal action? Surely enough is enough, Ashley himself, Derrick or someone within the press office must be seen to be taking legal action directly with these newspapers.

I can not believe we are going to continually allow these journalist make easy money fabricating their quota of Colum space by taking pop shots with no foundation, named “quotations” or fact.

By not taking any action we are an easy target for a quick buck!

The halo effect of good feeling now within our football club will never reach southern journos, but what we have to stop is the negativity and pathetic attempts of these people trying to dampen it.

Yes Ed we should “Sort it out” and “Quickly” !!!!!

I don’t have a problem with reporting news – good or bad – my gripe is with how it is reported.

I guess I just think Ed’s writing style is awful – his reporting style, if you want. No opinion. No analysis. No nothing.

I find that boring and lazy.
