The Daily Mail is reporting that Newcastle are facing a player row over bonuses.
Derek Llambias – Newcastle’s Managing Director
The news is that the squad, represented by captain Kevin Nolan, Alan Smith and Steve Harper, want a 50 per cent increase in the £1M bonus money the squad shared for winning the Coca Cola Championship last season.
But the Newcastle board are apparently not offering any increase at all in the bonus, even though the Premier League means a lot more money coming into the coffers of the Tyneside club.
The Mail is reporting this has even led to heated disputes between both management and players, but of course we have no idea if any of this is true, although players’ contracts, with the bonus agreements included, are said to have remained unsigned.
And the players are said to be threatening to be uncooperative with club requirements over personal appearances and interviews for Newcastle United’s TV station, website and match programs, until the dispute is finally resolved.
As we said, we have no idea if any of this is true, but gossip papers always try to report bad news, especially about Newcastle, during a time when this is the last thing we want to be happening.
If it is true, than hopefully it can and will be worked out amicably and quickly, and a resolution reached as soon as possible.
Hopefully – that will be the end of this story.
Comments welcome.

Comment #82whos that young striker people have been raving about in pre-season for the reserves, he could come off the bench for 20 mins just to see how he goes

Comment #89It can’t be Liverpool Ben Arfa is going to coz his agent says he has a chance of playing Saturday n Liverpool don’t play until Sunday, it won’t be Man Utd because they are top heavy in midfield and AF has already said there will be nay more spending, Won’t be spuds either because they are in the same boat as man utd, my thinking is that he’s agreed a deal with us but his agent is trying to drum up last minute interest in him, of course I held my hands up when my source said Ben Arfa was signing and he didn’t but the source was always based on Louc Remy being confirmed to allow Ben Arfa to move today that finally happened and all of a sudden his agent days there’s a deal in place.

Comment #95NUFC_Richyg01 ..problem with SWP is wages .. if Man City pay half I reckon we’d take him .. but is he much better than routledge who should be given a chance .. as for Arfa instead, I hope so .. gotta good feeling its him coming as the arrangement with a prem club was very quick. .. and no other prem. club have admitted interest ..

Comment #96i think bridge will defo be out the door as lescott played LB last night as the new signing was injured. unless bridge was injured himself. can you see us getting him though. i like the left side partnership we have and i cant see him coming here to sit on the bench, especially if he has other options with a more guaranteed starting place

Comment #98We tend to look at players who have a number of positions rather than specific.
I think SWp is much better than Routledge, he has more pace and can pass for starters

Im not bothered about RSCruz either becuase he is not what we need.
Johnson is a good player, but what is the point of loaning an injured player!

Comment #120I have looked at the reports this morning and at no point down Ben Arfas agent say its not Newcastle?!?! So where the F**K do they make out theese headlines from I also agree that its gotta be because it seems that a deal is already in place and we are the only prem team he has had contact with so in my opinion…. Benny is a geordie, Benny is a Geordie na na na na na na na na.
