The Daily Mail is reporting that Newcastle are facing a player row over bonuses.
Derek Llambias – Newcastle’s Managing Director
The news is that the squad, represented by captain Kevin Nolan, Alan Smith and Steve Harper, want a 50 per cent increase in the £1M bonus money the squad shared for winning the Coca Cola Championship last season.
But the Newcastle board are apparently not offering any increase at all in the bonus, even though the Premier League means a lot more money coming into the coffers of the Tyneside club.
The Mail is reporting this has even led to heated disputes between both management and players, but of course we have no idea if any of this is true, although players’ contracts, with the bonus agreements included, are said to have remained unsigned.
And the players are said to be threatening to be uncooperative with club requirements over personal appearances and interviews for Newcastle United’s TV station, website and match programs, until the dispute is finally resolved.
As we said, we have no idea if any of this is true, but gossip papers always try to report bad news, especially about Newcastle, during a time when this is the last thing we want to be happening.
If it is true, than hopefully it can and will be worked out amicably and quickly, and a resolution reached as soon as possible.
Hopefully – that will be the end of this story.

Comment #161I hope that the Hba agreement reached with is Newcastle. If we don’t get him than Shaun Wright-Philips would be perfect starter for the right wing over Routledge.
