It will be all change tomorrow night, as Chris Hughton is ready to bring in the youngsters to play against Accrington Stanley, tomorrow night in the Carling Cup.
Haris Vuckic – to start tomorrow night
The main goal for the Newcastle club this season is survival in the Premier League, but it would also be good to have a decent couple of cup runs – if at all possible.
Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:
“I will make a lot of changes.” “It will be a young team that goes to Accrington, and it will be a nice opportunity for them.” “I’m talking about the likes of Haris Vuckic, Ryan Donaldson and Kazenga LuaLua.” “It will be a very changed team.”
And Tim Krul will start in goal for the Magpies in the televised Carling Cup tie, and Slovenian 17 year old Vuckic is also expected to start. Ryan Donaldson and LuaLua could be sent out on loan this season, but both will get their chance against Accrington.
Young promising defender James Tavernier, who has been a substitute in the first two games of the season, could also make a start.
Northern Ireland international winger Shane Ferguson and Hungarian defender Tamas Kadar, who may be able to play after just recovering from a groin injury, could also be involved in the game.
Knee injury victim Danny Guthrie will be facing a fight against time to be fit for the trip to Accrington, and if fit will travel and start tomorrow night.
24 year-old Spanish striker Xisco, who laid on Andy’s hat-trick goal at the end of Sunday’s game against Villa is also hoping to get a run-out in the game.
Hughton continued:
“Guthrie has been injured and is only a possibility.” “As I say it will be a changed side and it’s quite important the fans know that.”“It’s a great opportunity for the young players here who we have high hopes for.” “It’s very much the development squad.” “But this is their chance and we’re looking forward it.”
Newcastle will take 1,500 fans to Lancashire against an Accrington side who are unbeaten in League Two this season, having drawn twice and won one game, and have still to conceded a league goal this season.
Newcastle fans will hope the outcome tomorrow night is different than against Peterborough United last season, when the lads went down 2-0, and had started six teenagers in that game.
Chris Hughton will have learned from that game last year, when he probably played a side too young without the necessary experience. It’s good to give the fringe players a game of course, but we also need to get the win.

Comment #5I’d prefer CH to give all starts from the weekend the night off… I noticed even if we get a slight cup run on, we would have to play on a Wednesay before Smackems at home on the weekend. Obviously want to stay in the cup, but beating them is priority No1.

Comment #10xisco needs to play; either for exposure to leave, or a run of games to score for us if he is staying. carroll and xisco looked really good together feeding off each other and if he gets on a few of carrolls flicks he’ll score

Comment #16Quite rightly, finally will get to see the hype around Vuckic and co, which I am hoping is rightly justified.

Comment #17I just can’t wait to see Haris Vuckic play. Finally he will give Nile Ranger a start, hasn’t played first team for a while. I would also like to see Samuel Adjei and Bradden Inman.
