News today that Andy Carroll is signing a lucrative new four-year contract with Newcastle United.
Andy Carroll – new deal worth £25K a week
The England U21 International has had two excellent games at the start of the season, and bagged a great hat-trick against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, when he was just too good for the Villa defense to handle.
The Newcastle club have got Andy to commit his long-term future to his home town club, but the Daily Mirror is reporting the deal is not being announced officially yet, because of a behind-the-scenes dispute between two agents.
Carroll recently changed his representative – and there are likely to be potential claims from the two different agents – with the Premier League possibly being called in to arbitrate the situation.
Newcastle are delighted that Carroll is tied up until until the summer of 2013, and the 6’5″ striker is now picking up wages somewhat in line with top-level players at the club, at around £25K a week, which he has certainly earned.
And we think Andy will get even better, if he keeps his head down and listens to what the Newcastle coaches tell him. He’s done that over the last 12 months or so – and the improvement in his game has been dramatic, to say the least.
Keep it up Andy.
