Shock News – Steven Taylor Put On Transfer List

Shock news today that Sky Sports is reporting that Newcastle United have placed local boy Steven Taylor on the transfer list.

Steven Taylor – local lad wants to leave

The defender is currently out with a shoulder injury, and his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Taylor’s agent Paul Stretford recently admitted that negotiations over an extension to his contract were not progressing smoothly, and it looks like those talks have finally broken down.

Newcastle have decided to make Taylor available for transfer, after he has turned down their latest and final offer of a new deal.

And we have to think that was made easier by the good form shown by 26 year-old center-back Mike Williamson, who in the first two games of the PL season, has continued his excellent form of last season, and looked outstanding.

The deal offered to Steven was thought to be around £40K a week, which is a slight improvement on what he was already making at his home-town club, but it looks like that wasn’t enough for the Greenwich-born player.

The news is that Taylor’s representatives wanted something closer to £60K.

The 24-year-old has been with Newcastle since the very start of his career, and he was a former ball-boy when the great Kevin Keegan managed the club, and has played 179 times with 10 goals for Newcastle United.

We are sorry to hear about this – but if the lad wants more money elsewhere – so be it.

The policy of only keeping players who want to play for the Newcastle club, has worked famously over these last 13 months or so, but Steven will also be a big miss at the Newcastle club and we’re sure manager Chris Hughton will be sorry to see him leave.

We expect there to be an immediate demand for his services from some top Premier League clubs.

Greedy bastard in my opinion. Needs to get a grip of himself because to be honest right now he’s the 3rd or 4th choice and is no way worth 60k a week

it’s a shame, but it is good to see the club holding firm. Otherwise the contract will run out and we will get nothing.

undecided on S.Taylor, was talked of at 21 the same as Carroll is now… nand for whatever reason Taylor has never really developed from there.

still looks very undecided at crucial moments, and isn’t skillful or quick enough to be a RB.

if the right offer came it would be sad but i’d understand it.

The club offered him 40k which is fair enough as the average wage new signings are on is 25k. Fair play to the club as they made him a fair offer!

Who would come in for him? Everton?

i think he is a very over rated player anyways! … drops just as many bombs as titus did, the only thing is hes a local lad so the fans are more lenient. we have enough capable CB’s in big mike, sol, colo and kadar! let him go, get some money in and get HBA on a permanent deal!

40k would be too much for him, asking for that much is almost stating he wants to leave…

is only quality is he has some ticker which i like. but still , never developed like we all hoped.

We wont miss him and he’s up himself if he thinks he’s worth 60k a week.

Just hope we spend the money on a top player!

i dont think he has developed much, he still needs someone to hold his hand on the pitch 60k is a joke. pleased to see the club take this stance.

i bet he cacked himself when they said fine your going on the transfer list.

maybe him and Carroll should have another scuffle… if Taylor wins this time, he can stay and have £60k?

I would have sold him a while ago, he is overated, and we havent even missed him, lets be honest!
Our defence has played better without that liability in it!
Get the money and get mancienne or someone of a similar age.

I did say the other day, that ashley would sell someone to balance the books, he always does, he will end up, not spent at penny by the end of the window

least we wont have to read that french footballers name on here all day now. i hope we can drum up some interest quick so the money can be reinvested.

although if CH already has a couple of signings lined up the money off this can be used in jan to tweek things and freshen it up.

Aye Hitman – would expect him to be sold for just a few mill to make sure we get something rather than stump up his wages for a year.

Imagine if he has been feigning injury to strengthen his negotiating position!

off you go son and take your money grabbing agent with you. if the story is true, this is how much taylor wants to play for us. i personally think it will be a bit of a shock to him that the club are standing firm over his demands, fair play to MA here, sets down a marker. imo taylor would be fourth choice this season, his sale could possibly bring in funds to invest and should help the progress of young kadar. im sure we’ve been here before with taylor and contract disputes……………

Can’t believe someone so “attached” to the club could be so greedy, I’m glad they’ve called his bluff.

£2 mil+ a year for a 24 year old is enough, more than enough to play for your “home” team!

Half decent player but always injured, hope he gets his £60k a week at Wigan or some other sh1t club and rots!!

Holding his supposed ‘home town club’ to ransom like that, get shot!! He’s not even a proper geordie anyways!!

Ashely will come out of this window in profit again no doubt lol

We will sell taylor, and will have bought perch and tiote=no outlay

Then we will get the “we tried to sign players” story at the end of the window, but we could get the right players at the right prices

In two minds on this one. I got the impression that his rating of himself did not tally with that of CH. I am also aware that the fat man can see a profit here as well. None of us are informed about his contract negotiations but obviously NUFC would not list him if an agreement was possible. Who will come in for him? Arsenal? Spurs? West ham? Difficult one this but I reckon (as with NZogbia) Wigan are in with a chance. Blackpool? West Brom? Villa? Why not the mackems? So much for his dedication to the North East, NUFC, and Whitley Bay. I will let him go for 5 to 7 million by Monday.

To demand 60k/week if that’s true is incredible from Taylor.
He’s supposed to be a lifelong Newcastle fan like the rest of us yet he did his best to disrupt the great new team togetherness by trying to get into Carroll’s lass and now he still wants ridiculous money? !!!

Bollox to him, let him go!!!
