Tim Krul – I Just Want To Play Regularly For Newcastle

There was a milk advert in the 1980s in the UK, in which two young Liverpool fans fight over a bottle of milk, so that they don’t have to play for the Accrington Stanley club.

Tim Krul – looking forward to opportunity tonight

And it seems that Newcastle number two goalkeeper, Tim Krul,  has at least heard of that advert,  as he gets ready to start at the Crown Ground tonight.

Tim told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I heard about the milk advert then saw it on the web!” “To be honest it was my dad who called me straight away from Holland and he was asking who they were!” “But for me it is a big game and a chance to push on.”

Tim Krul and the Newcastle youngsters were beaten 2-0 at London Road last season against Peterborough United, and Tim had another excellent game for Newcastle in that match.

Krul continued:

“You only have to look at last season against Peterborough.” “But don’t worry I will make sure that every player that is involved is aware of that!” “That’s what I will be telling them!”

And of course in the summer Tim signed a new contract extension to keep him at Newcastle at least another four year s, and he was pleased to get that over with:

“I was glad to commit and it was harder the longer it dragged on.” “But like I said all the way through I just wanted to play for Newcastle.” “I just want to play regularly for Newcastle in the Premier League and hopefully I can make that dream come true.” “Hopefully that is this season.”

“I would rather be No 2 on the bench now than go out on loan anywhere.” “I’m really close now and I’m not giving that away.”  “I’m pushing for that No 1 spot and I’m not prepared to step away from that.” “That’s my aim and I want to fulfil that.”  “It’s another season in the Carling Cup so it means my season starts here.”

“It was a good result against Aston Villa and for the lads to keep the unbeaten record at home going has been great but now it’s our job to transfer that form into the Carling Cup.”

“It was pleasure to watch even from the bench because I don’t think many of them come around.” “To get that in the first home game and I think the fans couldn’t believe it.”  “We’ve been unbeaten for over a year now which has been amazing and we want to keep it going for as long as possible.” “But this is away from home and we have to be ready for Accrington.”

“It is always difficult against a smaller team.” “But the lads have to be switched on we can’t go there and expect an easy ride.” “For them it is the biggest night of their life.” “And that’s the mentality we have to show.”

“It will be a good night but we have to get into the next round.” “I just keep my head down, this is my game coming up and I can show what I can do.” “I’ll be ready like I was last year.” “It is going to be a long season and I want to be ready for every part of it.”

And there will be more youngsters who will get a try out tonight as Chris Hughton gives some of his young fringe players an opportunity. Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“It’s a great opportunity for these lads.” “But some of the senior players will also have a part to play.” “Danny Guthrie was touch and go last Sunday and hasn’t trained since.”

“Peter Lovenkrands will be involved and a few others.”“Haris will be very much involved and will play. It’s a good opportunity for him and the other younger players in the squad.”

Let’s hope we can get through this tie tonight at the first opportunity.

lol, everyone’s so eager to be first witht the news on anything!

Well there has to be a reason like he wants too much money but it’s a bad time to try and get £££’s for him, while he’s injured thast is.

I thought the idea was to buy good youngsters and seel em when they get older and are worth money?

Signing a player in his mid 30s and selling a 24 year old doesnt fit that!

we should be tying him up on a five year deal, not selling a very promising, local lad of 24 and bringing a 36 year old in… stinks this

good on newcastle I say. From what I have read he has rejected numerous contracts, so newcastle will want to cash in on him before his contract runs out. Better getting something rather than nothing… If its true that is!
