Ben Arfa To Travel To Newcastle To Sign For Magpies

Further updates to the amazing news this afternoon that Newcastle had apparently finally agreed a loan deal for Marseilles 23 year-old  top star Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa – will now travel to Newcastle to complete the deal

Marseilles President Jean-Claude Dassier has revealed that the midfield player and France International Hatem Ben Arfa is due to fly to Newcastle tomorrow to complete a protracted loan move to the Newcastle United club.

The move was first revealed a few weeks back, with Ben Arfa himself keen to push the loan deal though, as he has often said he wanted to join the famous Newcastle United club, one of the best supported teams around, and he has spoke well of the manager Chris Hughton.

The 23-year-old has even refused to train with the French club in order to force a move away from the French Champions.

The deal for the 23-year-old will not come cheap to Newcastle, and it will cost them more than £2M, but as we revealed earlier today Newcastle have agreed to an option of making the move permanent at the end of the season for £5M.

This will be great news for Newcastle fans everywhere,  and this boy has talent galore, and we suspect he will be welcomed with open arms by the Toon Army – and he may be surprised at the warm welcome he gets on Tyneside.

We hope this deal gets tied up in the next couple of days, and have to assume that the wages the French star was asking for are not a deal breaker.

It will be great to have this lad playing in black and white stripes – just great!

Comments welcome.

MA isn’t that bad. We all wanted him dead coz we love Keegan.

He goes to all the games, wears the colours, and he is a good businessman.

Hey im brand new to this..
i come on here everyday to see rumours , discussions and just general football banter.
I really hope this deal comes through … HBA is one quality player .. the kind of player newcastle will thrive on .. if we can get him in .. cover at lb and .. one more striker ( apparantly sturridge ) i have no doubt whatsoever that we will stay up this season .. i may be optomistic but i reckon if it all comes off we could finish 10 th – 13th.

smells like a trophy signing to me…dont get me wrong from what iv heard he has bags of talent but as always there is a but…is he what we need now when everything is looking so stable AT LAST??…his reputation preceeds him and a player who refuses to train at one club could no doubt cause another the same problems when his honeymoon period expires there-i hate to say it but with all the hype he had when he was a youngster, i get the impression he may think he was bigger than the club.
If he agrees a contract within the clubs wage boundry and takes a pay cut i will take my hat off to him and give him a chance but by the ‘reports’ (and i stress only reports) from last week, it sounds as though he wants a large pay packet and could be, as i said at the beginning, what we called in the shepard era as an overpaid trophy signing…I would absolutely love to be proved wrong about ben arfa and i also just hope the club that i adore and follow religiously pick up from where they left off at the weekend.

Tim, honestly, look at Barton since CH has taken over for example. If CH thought Ben Arfa was going to rock the ship too much he wouldn’t take him, I trust CH’s judgement so am not worried!

We just have to tie this deal up quickly as possible. He is just a terrific player. Ben Arfa to be a Newcastle player tomorrow. 🙂 Also, Sturridge would be awesome. Robbie Keane no problem.

I really hope you are right Tom. If CH could keep him level headed and unlock all that potential that has been stagnant for a few seasons then this could be one of the best deals in recent times for us! As Tom said, Barton is starting to become a prime example of this happening as he appears to be in a good place right now and also we are starting to see his talent shining through! But i hope you can all understand why we need to be cautious toward it as we have in the past had so many high profile flops at the club and i just dont want to return to those days…but if anyone knows what he is doing it CH and i have full faith in him.

If its true, not sure that its 100% good.
    Talent – Yes
Attitude – Who knows, can be problematic
Wages – We don’t know, maybe the club will go over board and it can effect the other players.

as sad as this is i phoned the jesmond dene house and pretended to be a newcastle representative. I asked them to confirm the reservation for a Mr Ben Arfa.. they hadnt a clue what I was talking about.. I live right next to the hotel and while its true players have stopped there in the past I feel people want this deal to happen so badly that they have resorted to beleiving chinese whispers. Beleive it when you see it on .co.uk girls and boys.

I’m pretty sure someones said it before but when players check into hotels its never under their name. Its always under the agents name or something to stop rumours spreading.

I’ll go the other way and say I’d prefer sturridge over Keane. Keane comes with baggage and has had a million cubs. Good player yes but sturridge can really change a game wirh pace and skill and he’s young.

I agree like Rotonda Heights. I’d choose Sturridge over Keane anyday. Sturridge still has the potential for the future aswell. Whereas Keane would probably have a good season this year and either be off or be sh*t by next season.
