Newcastle Linked With Boyata And Santa Cruz

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton is hoping to strengthen the Newcastle squad by signing striker Roque Santa Cruz and center-back Dedryk Boyata from Manchester City, before the transfer window closes at 5:00 pm next Tuesday afternoon.

Dedryk Boyata – 19 year-old Belgium U21 International

Eastlands manager Roberto Mancini has to trim his playing staff significantly before next Tuesday, when he must also name a 25 man first team squad.

With lots of new and expensive players being brought in, it seems that City are decimating their once excellent youth policy,  as their fine youngsters are hardly getting any chances at the Manchester club.

And it seems Newcastle will have a better chance with 19 year-old Boyata, who looked an excellent player early last season when he appeared 3 times for the City side.

He was born in Brussels and is of Congolese descent, and the 6’2″ player already has appeared for the Belgian U21 side, and looked a great player in the making early last season,  and would be an excellent acquisition for the season for Newcastle.

We’re not so sure about 29-year-old Santa Cruz, who has been a fringe player at Manchester City under Mancini, and the news yesterday was that he was trying to set up a loan deal to Italian club Lazio.

The Paraguayan World Cup striker was transferred to City for an amazing £17.5M from Blackburn last summer, so at least Blackburn made out well with the deal, but a calf injury last season helped restrict his playing time significantly at Eastlands.

It is true that his vast experience could be a help to Newcastle’s relatively inexperienced strikers like Andy Carroll, Nile Ranger and Leon Best.

Boyata, the Belgian youngster is unlikely to get much playing time if he stays at Eastlands this season,  after City have brought in the likes of  Jerome Boateng in defense, and of course if  Steven Taylor does leave Tyneside in this transfer window, Dedryk would be an ideal replacement.

Indeed if Newcastle can get the 19 year-old on loan and he does well,  as we would expect, Boyata would be a fine future permanent acquisition for the Tyneside club.

So of the two players mentioned we like Dedryk a lot, but are not too sure of Santa Cruz.

What do you think?

Boyata sounds like the better option and we can only loan 1 player from an epl team at a time.

    linked with HBA again… SSN;

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have shown a late interest in Hatem Ben Arfa, but it is expected to be too late for a deal. Newcastle United’s loan offer has reportedly satisfied Marseille’s demands, but the French champions are also waiting on Werder Bremen to make a firm offer, with the winger’s future set to be decided in the next couple of days.

tiki_toon- I am like so many others just so fed up with the whole Ben Arfa episode. If the joins great- we have a class player who will improve out team no end. If he doesn’t we move on and hopefully manage a solid mid table position this season!

    Id snap boyatta up pronto.

I dont know about everyone else but last nights game did leave much to be desired. Im not trying to be harsh or anything because a win is a win but a lot of our youngster are far away from first team football.

Out of the whole team I think only ranger and lua lua could step into first team action on sat if needed. Kadar and tavernier are probably one season away and vuckic really disappointed me. I wanted so much for him to show what hes got but he just… didnt lol. I know he has it, ive seen it, but he cant be ready if he couldnt pull the strings last night. Nolan came on for 3 mins and put lua lua through in seconds, thats the gulf between first team and our reserves.

    It was an eye opener

Santa Cruz is a great striker, cept we need a speedy striker, not someone who is similiar to Carroll. Tho I think Santa Cruz will do fine alongside Carroll, and assuming Carroll wont stay injury free whole season, I would take him on loan. Ameobi is just not good enough.

hmmmm… we have to be careful with acquisitions because the squad has proved to be together and capable so far this season, will be interesting tiote and in the future gosling will even fit into the first team squad.

if taylor does go, which i believe he won’t (i’m sure he knows the reality of things, its just fab comes in immediately on 80k and he’s been on 25k for some time) then mancienne, boyatta, marc wilson would be my shouts.

we should take advantage of citehs arrogance if they are going to go around potentially discarding youngsters before theyve had a chance to improve. pick em up before their egos get too big for their boots!

Vuckic was totally anonymous during the game, appart from when he elbowed that bloke in the face. He’s got a long way to go yet. Lua Lua looked canny, and so did that left back Ferguson.
Would like boyata, but not RSC as we have other strikers who can play around Caroll.
Playmaker please, HBA if its still even possible, although his initials make him sound like some sort of bank lol

i don’t think CH will sign Cruz, and boyate, our young star is good enough to make super sub.. and we will have super Toon Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa is just another Arshavin – we will not match his wage demands, so he will end up at another club and will be a thorn in our side for years.

Hopefully not, but I feel if he was serious enough about coming to us to lower his wage demands, he’d be here already by now.

PS I appreciate wages was not necessarily the issue with Arshavin, just still annoyed we didn’t make enough effort to get him at the time.

agreed with you mate. Our squad now is very2 good about team spirit, i hope when we going to sign new player, the player will no affect the team spirit..

a good team not because of player, a good team result from a good team spirit.

before this we have too many conflict in team like belemy and dyer crisis, hope there will be no another belemy and dyer..

well Arse and Barca can afford his 60k a week lol.
We still need proper cover at left back, was looking at zayatte’s file on hull site and he plays CB, RB, or DMF so i wouldn’t bother with him as he can’t cover LB

I like the sound of Boyata, sounds like a good up and coming prospect, and a season loan with option to buy would be great. RSC not so keen getting old and injuries we don’t need we don’t have the depth in out squad to be replacing players as we saw last night.

@Sinner: you just told the best joke by saying that S. Taylor is our best defender. Come on man; Williamson has only played 2 games in the EPL ans Taylor never managed to get that level. Taylor cannot tackle and knows nothing about position. He always gave 100% for the team, but that is not enough to succeed in the EPL.

Ben Arfa: hopefully it will end today cause it is boring! I hope he will be in =NUFC by the end of the day off course.

Santa Cruz: laybe he is injury prone, but I think he will be the best striker we will have if he comes to us.

Boyata: I am also Belgian and I have to say that this guy has got a fantastic future. Would be great to see him at the Toon.
