Newcastle Trying To Bring Robbie Keane To Tyneside

Newcastle United are reported to be making a rather sensational move to sign Tottenham striker Robbie Keane, on loan from Tottenham for the season.

Robbie Keane – made to play for Newcastle

Newcastle manager and former Tottenham coach Chris Hughton is said to have a great relationship with the Ireland captain, from his time both  at White Hart Lane and also of course with Ireland.

And the news tonight is rather upbeat for Newcastle fans, as Robbie himself is reported to be willing to consider a loan move, to play for the famous Newcastle United club next season.

The Ireland captain, who could have joined Newcastle back in January, 2005 when Graeme Souness was managing the club, was loaned to Celtic last season after being a substitute at Tottenham, and the same seems to be happening this season.

Hughton’s star is rising fast at Newcastle, as he is now not only seen as a top coach, but he has  also moved rather successfully into management, and of course plotted the unbelievable 6-0 demise of Aston Villa last Sunday afternoon, to the surprise of many and got Newcastle promoted in his first season as a full-time manager.

And it turns out that Chris and his staff at Newcastle believe they can convince Keane to agree to a move to Tyneside.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is said to be willing to work on the deal,  knowing he may have to break his wage structure to get Robbie – but Mike is said to be hopeful  that Tottenham can and will help out with Keane being on £75K a week wages.

Keane would be an immediate favorite on Tyneside (our opinion), as not only does he wear his emotions on his sleeve, but he gives 100% in every single game – something Geordie fans just love to see.

We hope this deal can be worked out,  and if the club can bring in Ben Arfa, Keane, and 19 year-old top Manchester City youngster Dedrick Boyata,  the Newcastle squad will suddenly look quite strong – and we could well be on our way this season.

Howay The Lads!!

Yeah, like he did in Liverpool? Don’t think so Ed. Want a more speedy striker with a bit more hunger.

Boyata scored tonight for City so I’m not sure he’ll be let go.

As for Robbie Keane…. No way José (Enrique)

He’s probably trying to get keane .. will redknapp let him go is the question … one shrewd wide boy redknapp .. we’d end up have to pay a few million into some unknown bank account ..

Robbie Keane and his type of experience I think is exactly what we need for Andy Carroll and this club. I know he is pretty old, but he can still bang in 10+ goals a year. But, if he doesn’t come than get some other player.

the footballrumours.co.uk site is linking us with Micah Richards a lot. I think he would indeed be a good signing. Has very good speed, and is still young guy, he is another option to head the ball from an corner.

Denni Avdic is unlikely in my opinion as he is a target man! We need a small speedy striker to feed off Carroll’s knock downs!

with xisco being excluded from wednesday’s squad, i wonder is he on the way out or had he an injury! the fact chris has played him a few times maybe just to make him an attractive purchase or loan for some club before the window……just a cospiracy theory i have

man city will not give us boyata, he is rated very highly by mancini and played excellent tonight..i fact any time i have seen him, he has been good!! we wont get micah richards either as they need some home grown talent in their squad

i have been harping on about getting their l.b. cunningham on loan but i doudt i will, i don’t think shane fergusion did enough the other night that assured me that he is ready as a back-up (could be wrong)

i hope we are not in for utaka

i also would like to see ben afra and tiote pull on the black and white jerseys this saturday

on robbie keane, he would be a great little signing

A last minute bank holiday weekend free-for-all as usual. When the dust settles on who we actually have signed / unloaded it will be interesting. I’m not bothered about the names being touted, more about the positions we will have properly (ie with quality Prem player) covered by the time we have to finalise the 25 man squad next week.

Much rather this had all been sorted before the 1st game rather than in the last weekend of ‘the Sales’, as “buy at haste repent at leisure” is inevitably our fate. Xisco, Lucque, Best (thus far)…. zzzz

Once we have a settled squad with 12 games under their belts and at least 20 points on the board I might feel more charitable toward all concerned. Presently I still think we have looked pretty ineffective all summer in our dealings. As for Keane, I would rather try and snatch Kenny Miller from Rangers for a cut price.

i would rather see ranger being given game time then see the likes of miller, utaka, or any other average striker for that matter bought…….ranger looks a real prospect

however i wouldnt say no to keane

The sun, the mirror and the daily mail are reporting that robbie keane is poised to make his move to newcastle.

surely all three can’t be incorrect. There is some thing in there.. especially since Simon Bird usually doesn’t make inaccurate claims.

The good times are certainly back ! but how ill keane play. surely Arfa will take routledges place on the wing. meaning that keane will play with carroll and barton and nolan in the middle.

smith has to go. cuz then we have tiote and guthrie on the bench.

Most you can say re: Keane is, he’s been everywhere else, so why not. Always gets a good few goals but never seems to stick – although I don’t think he’s the one looking to make all these moves, he’s done ok out of being a one-season wonder at so many clubs.
He’s been on fire preseason and could be a good foil to Carroll. Just write into his contract not to perform the most embarrassing goal celebration if he scores for us.
As for Newutd (4) Keane’s hunger and vim have never been in question.
And for Howaythelads (6), Souness wanted BoaMorte, not Keane. Shepherd and Hall, comedy duo, came up with Luque.

If we can get three of them, we can looking for the European spot position immidiately. HBA,Keane, Boyaka,Tiote with our current squads like Jonas,Enrique,Carroll,Barton,Nolan I think we’re strong enough. Maybe stronger than last time we got top ten finished.

    Sort of a 4/4/2
Not sure but i think if we get keane he will be set on the bench.
Also sells and loan out unwanted strikers like Best and Ranger.
