Newcastle Win LMA Performance Of The Week

The League Managers Association (LMA) have agreed that the F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award should go to Newcastle United, after their excellent 6-0 home win against Aston Villa last Sunday afternoon.

Chris Hughton – receives special award on Saturday

The panel was comprised of LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, and now the Newcastle manager Chris Hughton will receive a specially engraved crystal football during a special presentation to be televised live on Sky Soccer this coming Saturday.

Newcastle survived a 10th minute penalty miss by John Carew, who recklessly smashed the ball way over the bar, but then first half goals from Joey Barton (a beauty), Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll made it 3-0 at half time.

21 year-old Andy Carroll completed his hat-trick in the second half and new Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan scored his second, to end what was an exciting home return to the Premier League by a dominant Newcastle United side.

And of course last night the Newcastle youngsters got a good result, with a Carling Cup 3-2 win at Accrington Stanley.

Next up are Wolves on Saturday afternoon at Molyneux, and hopefully another 3 points.

Comments welcome.

After declining several offers in July August, come from Hoffenheim or Parme, because it wanted absolutely to go to Newcastle (syndrome Ginola?), while continuing to train and to play with the OM, Hatem Well Arfa ended up to turn the back to the English club, some days after his departure of the Commanderie while slamming the door. It is true that the coming of andré-pierre Gignac and the one, done more complicate because of the medical problems of the unfortunate Loïc Rémy, pushed to background the wandering of the former champion of of lyons France, that trains in solitary.

Since some days, it is at Brême, the Werder having sold Özil to the Real and disposing henceforth of liquidities. “But they did not not yet send us offer, proclaims John claude Dassier; now that they are qualified for the League of the champions, it will be necessary that they make a decision!” That becomes all the more urgent since Newcastle at last sent an acceptable offer to the OM. “They propose to get up the purchase option if Hatem plays 25 matches and pay the 5% of the FIFA. We there will reply. Next, to Hatem to come to an agreement with them, adds the president of the OM. It is necessary that one in finishes fastest possible with all this history.”

This wouldn’t address the wages issue though. If he wants S Taylor type wages, he aint coming.

well if he had the choice, if both deals are on the table, he would be crazy to turn down bremen, as they are in europe,

im sick of people going on about his wages, he will be on loan, and we pay what he is currently on, which is between 40-50k, thats what OM pay him, he cant ask for more than that!

geordielad880 – he seems to want to showcase his abilities in the premier according to what he has said.

My take is that he is hoping to use us as a stepping stone to one of the bigger clubs in the premier.

But if we get a couple of seasons from him and sell him on it is a win win situation for both the player and our club. Who knows once in, he may become enamoured of the Toon and want to stay.

ginkoh thats what i said 4 points from the next 2 games, wolves and blackpool, would be good! wolves are a good side, even the big sides dont go to wolves and beat them easy, its always 1-0 etc, it will be a hard match, i would like to think we will steamroller blackpool though!

Geordielad880, know where you are coming from, but we are crying out for a bit of flair in the team.

From what I have seen of him, he does not wilt even with two and three defenders surrounding him, he has skill, pace and tenacity and ATTITUDE in abundance, so I hope your doubts will be unfounded.
