Newcastle look all set to land France international Ben Arfa on a year long loan deal, with a chance for a £5M permanent deal next summer.
Ben Arfa – can Hughton handle this player?
The 23 year-old youngster will add some class to the Newcastle attack, and last night Newcastle manager Hughton talked about Ben Arfa, and was specifically asked if he could handle the player, who has a worrying history of not getting on with his team-mates:
“He’s an offensive player that can play in any one of three positions, either of the wide positions or off the front. He’s a young player, a wonderful talent and a wonderful prospect.”
“Can I handle him? He’s a player of a good age and a good development age and that’s why we’re interested.”
“The main concern about anybody coming into an environment is that he is a player coming into a quite healthy environment with a squad showing a fair amount of confidence. We’d expect anyone coming into that to be very much part of that.”
Ben Arfa scored for France this month, and has also been chased by Werder Bremen, but has visited Tyneside to check out his new home, and is expected to sign soon, with news last night that a deal was very close.
Newcastle are also interested in Robbie Keane and Hughton, who said all the transfer targets were players he has identified to the Newcastle Board, said:
“He’s somebody I know very well at Spurs and of course my time associated with the Irish team, but I’ve got nothing more to add on that.”
Newcastle fans are hoping this transfer window can be finished off with getting both Ben Arfa and Robbie Keane to the Tyneside club for the season, and if we can do that the Newcastle squad will look very good.
