Chris Hughton Talks About Ben Arfa And Robbie Keane

Newcastle look all set to land France international Ben Arfa on a year long loan deal, with a chance for a £5M permanent deal next summer.

Ben Arfa – can Hughton handle this player?

The 23 year-old youngster will add some class to the Newcastle  attack, and last night Newcastle manager Hughton talked about Ben Arfa, and was specifically asked if he could handle the player,  who has a worrying history of not getting on with his team-mates:

“He’s an offensive player that can play in any one of three positions, either of the wide positions or off the front. He’s a young player, a wonderful talent and a wonderful prospect.”

“Can I handle him? He’s a player of a good age and a good development age and that’s why we’re interested.”

“The main concern about anybody coming into an environment is that he is a player coming into a quite healthy environment with a squad showing a fair amount of confidence. We’d expect anyone coming into that to be very much part of that.”

Ben Arfa scored for France this month, and has also been chased by Werder Bremen, but has visited Tyneside to check out his new home, and is expected to sign soon, with news last night that a deal was very close.

Newcastle are also interested in Robbie Keane and Hughton, who said all the transfer targets were players he has identified to the Newcastle Board, said:

“He’s somebody I know very well at Spurs and of course my time associated with the Irish team,  but I’ve got nothing more to add on that.”

Newcastle fans are hoping this transfer window can be finished off with getting both Ben Arfa and Robbie Keane to the Tyneside club for the season, and if we can do that the Newcastle squad will look very good.

CH talking as if we have 100% signed HBA?

Still nothing on the official site so the wait continues…

That said, you don’t talk about players like that unless they are signed.

Translated from “RMC Sport” (French Site)

The strike started training by Hatem Ben Arfa on August 12 will expire in the coming hours . He does more training in OM and discovers a new club . This afternoon on OM TV , Jean -Claude Dassier , the president of Olympique Marseille, said he reached agreement with Newcastle. There remained only player to reach an agreement with leaders of the Magpies . Yesterday, we announced that the player would be in England to settle the details of the loan with option to purchase . The midfielder and his representatives have reached an agreement late at night and after tough negotiations with Newcastle . Before formalizing the loan with option to purchase the English club awaits the final elements of the medical visit . A press conference is already scheduled for Monday . After Lyon and Marseille , Newcastle is the third club professional Ben Arfa , who was also tracked after Werder Bremen. Deprived of France and Belarus (September 3 ) and France Bosnia ( September 7), the midfielder found a loophole in that arm of iron he won against OM. Exile Will it pay ?

Been away on business all week without internet, come back and the ben arfa saga is still dragging on!!!

Although read on that some french source is reporting he’s agreed terms, medical on monday.

Perfect scenario for next few days, ben arfa and keane in on loan, taylor signs new deal.

with ben arfa we have added creativity and with tiote we have added steal. Really really like how hughton plays the transfer market.

Long time reader 1st time posting. Great blog Ed, I check it at least 3 times a day. But in regards to your link GeordieToon89 I would look into foxsoccertv…it isnt free but its well worth the investment especially if you split it like my roommate and I. You get access to a ton of games from all the leagues. It even had a link for the accrington stanley game on wednesday and its all broadcasted in HD. Just a suggestion.
    Howay the Lads!

We just have to give him a medical now. But, everything else is all agreed. Personal terms he agreed. I think we will get Hatem Ben Arfa, Shaun Robby Keane, and Dedryk Boyota. And if fail to get Keane or Boyota than Chris Hughton will go after Shaun Wright-Phillips.

“Ben Arfa … also been chased by Werder Bremen … ”

Only according to OM sources. Bremen consistantly denied this. Or did you check with Bremen management before writing this.

    Ben Arfa – YES
Keane – sceptical. An old whiner who was shit for Liverpool and has lost a lot of speed the last seasons. As long as we just take him on loan, I guess I’m okay with him coming.

Dare we say it…. Is our season poised to become quite interesting maybe exciting!! If hoots can handle ben arfa then he will be a cracking signing. And capturing keane would be perfect for Carroll. Can’t wait to see how it will turn out!

toon95 ..can’t see it .. guti and enrique work well down the left .. arfa is deeemed more as a no.10 but can operate as a winger. ie he’ll get the free role..

toon95 .. where’d you read the squad nos for tiote .. if we got rid of guti we’d be down an essential winger ..I’d be worried if they did this as arfa needs time to settle..

Are you talking about Guy Assulin?

In israel he is considered the next Yossi Benayun (even better then).

Why I hear people here talking about him for the last 2 days?

But I hope if he will come, its not instead of gutierrez.
