Newcastle Get Chelsea Away In Carling Cup

Newcastle have been handed just about the toughest game they could have drawn, when they got Premier League Champions Chelsea at Stanford Bridge in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup.

Would you believe it?

Somehow we don’t think Chris will be playing many youngsters in this game, which is scheduled to take place the week commencing 20th  September.

Sunderland got West Ham at home, and Tottenham entertain Arsenal in a terrific North London derby game.

Full draw for the third round of the Carling Cup:

Brentford v Everton
Portsmouth v Leicester City
Stoke City v Fulham
Chelsea v Newcastle United
Aston Villa v Blackburn Rovers
Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal
Millwall v Ipswich Town
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Notts County
Burnley v Bolton Wanderers
Birmingham City v MK Dons
Liverpool v Northampton Town
Scunthorpe United v Manchester United
West Bromwich Albion v Manchester City
Sunderland v West Ham United
Peterborough United v Swansea City
Wigan Athletic v Preston North End

yes i would believe it ed, to win a trophy , you need an element of luck, starting with the draw,i think that is why we have never won any thing, coz somewhere along the linewhen a little bit of luck is needed , it turns against us , just like england in tournaments, i really believe we are jinksed, some one has cursed this f….ing club

    Fully backing your thoughts Edwinnufc…

We DO NOT need the cups to distract us from staying up and stretching what is already a thin squad.

We beat them, well done. If not, n’ay bother.

Sno9@2: Easier to beat them now than in the final when they will put out a full side. If we are going to win something (for once) we have to beat the best teams at some point. Stop moaning, we should be relishing the challenge.

c beefhart if we are going to win something for once, we have to beat the best teams at some point, er after 55 years, how long do you want like ? relishing the challenge? i d rather see us get decent draws and maybe win it, or not?
