Fraser Forster In Goal For Celtic At Motherwell

It could be that Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster has already won the battle to be Celtic’s number one goalkeeper this season.

Fraser Forster – in Celtic goal today at Motherwell

Fraser started in goal for Celtic a few minutes ago, with the Glasgow powerhouse visiting Motherwell, and Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska was on the bench.

Forster played 43 games at Norwich City last season and was outstanding and second in their voting for player of the season.

Fraser kept over 20 clean sheets while on loan, and the 6’6″ goalkeeper is well thought of on Tyneside, but wants to play first team football, which is why Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has loaned him out for another season, this time north of the border.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon had been looking for a goalkeeper to challenge Lukasz Zaluska for the Celtic number one jersey, since Polish number one Artur Boruc signed for Italian club, Fiorentina,  in the summer.

We’ll follow Fraser during the season, and let’s hope he can be as outstanding as he was last year in East Anglia.

Note: Celtic won the game 1-0 with a penalty from Daryl Murphy after 73 minutes, after Steven Saunders was sent off,  first clean sheet for Fraser today.

fantastic news. The sooner our two young keepers get match experience the sooner we can move harps onto the coaching staff. We have two massive talents on our hands by the looks of it. Forster was immense at Norwich last year and Celtic was a bit of a risk for him in terms of starting regularly.

I’m not in any way saying Harps hasnt been great and fair play to him for waiting so patiently under Shay. But I think Kruls ready and has the potential to be a worldbeater, Forster back to challenge him for the no1 jersey next year.

Hopefully he gets a fair chance and he grabs it.

I want to post ome coments about the past 2 days at NUFC:
    1. YES BEN ARFA IS A GEORDIE!!! Fantastic work by CH; LLambias and Ashley.

    2. I think it was a fair result yesterday at Wolverhampton (more like a rugby team). We were lucky cause they hit the post and should have had a penalty, but on the other hand we shpuld have scored more than once.

    – Fantastic to see how Joey Barton stayed calm, but the referee was awful; why did he not give a red card for such attacks.
    – Another class goal by Carroll, but he should have scored in the 1st half too.

    3. I really hope we can get Keane in before Tuesday. It would be a very good window, which it is already. I have to take back my words which I mentionned a couple of weeks ago about Ashley (he really prooved me wrong now).

    4. It is going to be a very difficult choice for CH to select his team.

    5. Can some of you see players move out of NUFC before Tuesday. I would not be too bothered to see Taylor leave, but will there be others?

    What if…..

Fraser Forster makes 30 apps for Celtic? Won’t he be ahead of Krul then?

Looks like Forster and Krul could shape up to be another Given/Harper pairing…
