Newcastle’s main goal before Tuesday afternoon at 5:00pm. when the transfer window closes, is to get Ireland skipper Robbie Keane to Newcastle on loan.
Rick van Wolfswinkel – Newcastle interested in Dutch striker?
But the Daily Mail late today, are reporting that Newcastle are planning a move for Dutch 21 year-old striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
The youngster is currently at Utrecht, and hit a terrific hat-trick last week against Glasgow Celtic, when they hammered the Scottish giants 4-0 at home.
Van Wolfswinkel recently made his senior international debut for Holland in a 1-1 draw against the Ukraine, and fits the profile of the type of player Newcastle owner Mike Ashley wants to bring to Newcastle – youngsters who are already good, but have not yet reached their full potential.
The player has scored 12 goals already this season and Dutch sources are claiming Newcastle have been closely monitoring the player recently, and are ready to bring him to Tyneside.
The player moved to Utrecht last year from Vitesse, and in 78 first class games so far, he’s scored 32 goals, not a bad start at all to his career.
Liverpool were recently linked with an £8M move for van Wolfswinkel, but that fee seems way too expensive for the Tyneside club, so it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can bring in more than Robbie Keane before Tuesday afternoon.
We’d be very happy at getting the 30 year-old Ireland captain to Newcastle by Tuesday, that’s for sure.

Comment #3sounds an exciting move. i wonder if we could get him on a loan, similar to ben arfa, ie not having to find it all up front. seems crazy thinking back when we didn’t blink an eye spending 10m on losers like Luque.

Comment #5I hope we sign Ricky Van Wolfswinkle. He looks like a brilliant player for the future. Already a dutch full international. He looks like the perfect player to play off Carroll. Has a left footed lazer.

Comment #6Really didnt want Keane. So i’ll be happy if the latest rumours are true.
Just had a feeling his presence and attitude would ruin what we have going here at the moment. We have non arrogant experienced players and talented youngsters.
Robbie Keane will just be too arrogant and disturb the harmony by thinking he is so much better than everyone else in the team.
Van Wolswinkel is a good shout to play just off Carroll. Off the top of ym head I’d like Ciprian Marica or Florin Costea to do this. I reckon they’d be cheaper than van Wolfswinkel aswell.

Comment #14I heard a rumour that we were paying £12m for Keane & £8m for this guy up front as Ashley has just won the Eurolottery & decided to spend the cash on players instead of himself because he loves our club so much 🙂
Only kidding peeps 🙂 I’ll get my jacket now 🙁

Comment #15I think it’s going to be an exciting end to this transfer window for NUFC.
The club learned alot from the mistakes that he made and things looks to be very positive at the moment.
This dutch lad looks an interesting player. His goal scoring record is fantastic. If we can get him for a season long loan with a view for a permanent view would be very interesting.Maybe CH wants to build his new striker partnership with Carroll and another talented striker that can be this lad ?
I can’t excluded any surprises from NUFC in this transfer window …………

Comment #23People from Netherlands don’t rate him as good enough for the Premiership (yet). By the looks of him on youtube, he doesn’t seem to have anything special about him either. Would be a risky buy, especially when you see the price they want.

Comment #24Guys as good as this guy seems he is inexperienced and as for question-marked strikers we already have the massively overpaid Xisco.
In my humble opinion this is just smoke-screen. Our real number 1 target remains Keane and this rumour serves as a bagaining chip with Tottenham:”Look if you don’t hand us Keane we have other options and you ‘ll have to stick with RK and his 75,000 p/w.”

Comment #31Once CH hits his stride, and stands up to Ashley for the good of the club, there will be no better manager in Europe.
M’O’N is grumpy, irritable and hugely overrated. Any manager can go up the Rangers or Celtic to add a few trophies to the CV…. Villa were very, very dull.
PS: And on the subject of Celtic, well done Fraser Forster on the clean sheet -great news for those who can see beyond Tuesday at 6:00pm!!

Comment #33with or without anyone else in by tuesday , im happy enough now with what we got , think another striker in different mould to carroll would be good if we can but can ben arfa not do a job in there , and loven should get a chance to see if his partnership with carroll can work in the prem as it did in the championship, still exited for deadline day though

Comment #37Keane would be a terrific loan signing.
I’d be happy with a team that has Arfa and Jonas providing from the wings and Keane and Carroll grabbing the goals. Smith/Nolan/Barton destroying the midfield.

Comment #38ToonKing – I mention them cos whilst I do rate them it more cos they’re the right type of partner for Carroll, but we have lots of options and they aren’t good enough to kick up a massive fuss if they find themselves on the bench.
