The Northern Echo is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane is hesitating on making a loan move to Newcastle United.
Robbie Keane – not sure of Newcastle loan move
It is being reported that Robbie would prefer to remain in North London and fight for his place in the Spurs side, rather than going out on loan to Newcastle United.
Initial talks have already taken place between officials at St James’ Park and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, with Newcastle proposing a one-year loan deal, with a view to a permanent transfer next summer for around £6M.
The 30-year-old has already gone out on loan to Celtic during the second half of last season, and it appears he doesn’t want to go out on loan again.
It seems that if Robbie leaves Spurs he would want it to be a permanent move, and this may even be a ploy to try to get Newcastle to make the deal permanent, but the Tyneside club will hardly want to pay out £75K/week wages to Robbie.
While there is no official wage ceiling at Newcastle, that’s still a lot of money to pay out to one player.
This may now put Aston Villa in the driver’s seat, as Spurs want their young winger Ashley Young, and Robbie could go to Aston Villa in a part exchange deal, with former manager Martin O’Neill a known admirer of Keane.
But Robbie needs to also look at his situation at Spurs, and Harry Harry Redknapp is trying desperately to sign another striker, with moves being made for both Luis Fabiano and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
There is now about 32 hours to go before the transfer window closes, and if Harry Redknapp is successful in bringing in another striker, Robbie can certainly stay in North London, but would be unlikely to play many games for the London club – that seems to be the stark reality.
So we wait and wonder on this one, but if Robbie doesn’t want to play for Newcastle on loan – so be it.
Comments welcome.

Comment #43ayee av noticed he tries to take on like 4 2 many lol but aslong as ch can curb tht abit he’l be fine but ive also noticed his crossing isnt really up to much similar level to routledge and jonas really but aslong as he can bring others into the game with his dribbling and passing he’l be a massive hit thats why a would play all 3 of them in most home games:
Barton Nolan
Routledge Arfa Jonas
Carroll

Comment #47he might be good on videos which only shows his best bits but he’s played 162 games and scored 41 goals thats like nearly 1 goal every 4 games which isnt very good for a so called striker..anyways his contract is up this summer so why havnt we signed him for free if he was that good he’s only 23/24

Comment #56I don’t think Roy Keane will let Connor Wickham go on cheap.I think if he leave now, It may cost around 5-8m. Although Whickham still not be in Ipswich first team.
HI will be happy if we can sign him but in the case we can sell Shola or Xisco because we have too much quantity in Striker area now.

Comment #62i personally dont wana risk signing wolf boy a think we should really approach them for first option to buy and just really take notice of his progression over this season as i dont think we can risk signing a very much unproven striker, i also dont think wher even after him a think its all paper talk, av gota sneaky feeling now though that wher goin t sign keane for about 5 million a didn earlier on but i jus got tht sneaky feeling

Comment #68I can understand him hesitating as this could possibly be his last move in football so he wants everything to be contractually perfect or as near to it as possible, I believe he’d prove a cracking addition to the squad on loan but £6million is steep for a player of his age, if he comes I think either Ranger should be allowed to go out on loan and /or Shola should be sold to anyone who wants him he’s not happy being a bit part player but sadly that’s all he’ll ever be just a shame he won’t realise it.

Comment #69I’m over the moon about the signings and really looking forward to seeing a team i can be proud of again!
If we don’t sign any more I’ll be happy till January but I have a sneaking feeling there’s one more coming in tomorrow!
Ashley’s got the bit between his teeth! Never thought I’d say that but you gotta give credit!! 🙂

Comment #70Don’t really care if Robbie Keane comes or not. But, I want that 21 year old promising Dutch striker Ricky Van Woflswinkle. He is brilliant striker. Him and Carroll both 21 years old up top would just be awesome. More than 10 years them 2 up top next to each other banging goals in here and there.

I have well written my post before, dunno as if the blog mess up with it.
Yes,i did say he scored little goals for getafe is because he plays as a supporting striker, not a striker.
Have you ever seen his assist? They are of high qualities.
Also, for the reason,he did not joined the toon,is because he did sign another contract with them.Look at wiki,if it was a free agent,it would have said.
A partnership between him and caroll would be deadly.
😀 but i doubt he would joined Newcastle. 🙁

Comment #77Dont sign Wolfswinkel, seems more like a liabillity to us.Looks like ameobi when he is on the ball.
Usually miss on 1-1 with the keeper, and looks kinda sloppy.Wouldnt go for him.
Yes,his so call hattrick he did against celtics,2 of them were penalties. And the last was decent, but not the worth the try to get.
If there is someone the try, would be xisco,he played a total of around 20 mins this season and he managed to make one assist deep in the enemy territory. Also if he were not that good,he would not have been selected in the team of U-21 team of spain.

Comment #78Keane would be the icing on the cake. Clever, tricky, can score, would do well with Caroll. This squad sure is looking strong now. Good days ahead I believe. Wingers on both sides (how long has it been?), developing young players, experience, fight, deadwood/parasites like Owen, Nzogbia, Butt gone, backups to cover for injuries… e.g. Guthrie was so important last year, still hasn’t featured + it doesn’t show. Bench will be full of stars!

No wonder Spuds want him out the door, and no wonder Keane doesn’t want to go !
I wouldn’t want to go if I was getting that much
