Newcastle have brought in James Perch, Dan Gosling, Sol Campbell, Cheick Tiote and Hatem Ben Arfa so far in the summer transfer window, and that could be it.
Cheick Tiote – 4th player through the door at Newcastle
Chris Hughton was refusing to rule out any late developments in the transfer window today however, so obviously the club is still working on one or two deals, but the manager seems pleased with the five new additions, as are most of the Newcastle fans.
And it seems that Sol Campbell is now fit, and playing well in training, and will turn out for the Reserve side at the Stadium of Light tonight against the Sunderland second string.
Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:
“It’s a massive boost for Sol to be able to play tonight.” “He’s been available to us to play for a while now and this is a good opportunity for him to play.”
“With the way it has worked out with international football in the next week or so, we hope that we can bring him up to speed.” “You need to have good options and I would rather have many decisions to make than have none at all.”
“As we all know, it’s not just about the starting XI it’s about those who are backing it up as well and we have that now.”
Xisco is also expected to play at the Stadium of Light tonight after recovering from his slight groin injury, and it seems the Spanish 24 year-old will be at Newcastle ate least through January, and will get his chance to impress for the Newcastle side until then.
