Newcastle Give Trial To 19 year French Whiz Kid

The local Sunday Sun is reporting this morning that Newcastle are looking at a post-deadline day capture of 19-year-old attacking  French midfielder Nacim Boukhelifa.

Nacim Boukhelifa – at Benton training ground – attacking midfielder

The former Racing Lens player is a free agent right now, and can be signed at any time, since the player is basically out of a job.

Nacim is currently training with Newcastle’s development squad, and the club could sign the player permanently, if he impresses on Tyneside.

Nacim would be one of the players  who are signed when they are young and good, and have time to improve on Tyneside under the guidance of the Newcastle coaching staff.

It would be much like 19 year-old Jóhan Símun Edmundsson, from the Faroe Islands, who was also signed as a free agent this summer, after spending time at the club since last January.

Boukhelifa  turned down an offer at Lens after becoming a key member of their youth side, and was on trial at Manchester City earlier in the summer, but the Eastlands club did not pick him up.

Newcastle were reported to be one of many Premier League  clubs interested in the player earlier this summer, after the 19-year-old fired Lens to the French Youth League title.

It seems that Nacim, like Ben Arfa, wants to play in England, and Newcastle are taking a closer look at the teenager on Tyneside, and the club, always after a good bargain, can pick him up for nothing.

Chris Hughton told the Sunday Sun:

“He is a lad that we’ve got on trial at the moment, and he is training with the development squad,”

“We’re taking a closer look at him and if he is good enough,  then we’ll assess the situation.”  “At the moment we’re keeping an eye on him and seeing how he progresses.”

“What will happen at development level throughout the season is that we will have promising players in on trial,  and the young French lad is one of those that we’ve decided to take a look at.”

We like to read these stories,  because it seems Newcastle are after top young players,  and it also seems that the squad is being continually improved, and new signings are already being lined up for January.

This lad of course can be signed at any time, because he is a free agent.

Comments welcome.

Good stuff, we seem to have a number of young attacking midfielders now (Vuckic, Inman, Edmundson?) and now possibly this lad.

I think it’ll also be good for Ben Arfa/Tiote to have another French lad to help them settle.

Jesus – Tiote isn’t french mate, he’s from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire which is in West Africa, tho their official language is French but they Vernacular (native) languages are Baoulé, Dioula, Dan, Anyin and Cebaara Senufo among others 🙂

im glad to see newcastle are eventually going about things in the right way, if you get just one good player out of all the players you have on trial, its worth it, it will save a fortune in the long run on transfers, i still think it would be good for newcastle to set up a feeder club in europe, maybe belgium

This will be music to taylor’s over inflated ego and his agent will be rubbing his hands together , now we’ll see Taylor’s true loyalty, hopefully to stay with NUFC , learn from the mistakes he makes and become a great defender and then fight for his place and keep it, that’s what we all want in the end!

Seen this kid while watching Coeff,Situ,Hazard (Lil Bro) etc… they have a tremendious acadamy and this kid is much like Ben Arfa is his tight controll and nice skills on the ball, unlike Arfa he is more direct and uses pace alot more to nerve defenders like Walcott. the perfect comparasion for me is to Ryad Boudebouz at FC Sochaux Montbeliard, if we pick him up he can become a player to make an impact to the team in Cup matches etc… so i hope he impresses he has the ability and potential to do so 🙂

I love young whizzkids. They are my favorite type of youngsters. Youngsters that do tricks are the best to watch. And if Nacim Boukhelifa is one of them than pick him up right away. I hope we sign more youngsters.

I would not mind a young central midfielder added to the youth/ reserve ranks. I felt that was one area that lacked in CC match away to Accrington.

talking about feeder clubs. i wish nufc would start
a feeder club here stateside in the mls. if not at
least do an asoociation or friendship whatever you
call it. mls is perfect grounds for nufc to get youngsters
from and to send players to grow. face it, lads like
inman, lua lua, vucik, kadar, they would all do very
well here. also the mls is stocked full of young players
looking to move to europe. not to mention it would
give nufc more exposure here stateside. not that the
toon doesnt have a good following here cuz they do but
most american football fans are bandwagon fans rooting
for the big 4. i just think with the melting pot that is
america with lads from all over the world that it
would be perfect for a feeder club. plus mls is becoming
a very solid league. right now i would say it is equal
to or at least very close to the championship in england.
