Sol Campbell has had a fantastic career in football, and just listening to the man talk about things, he’s so positive and a great role model for the other players at the Newcastle club.
Sol Campbell – Newcastle gaffer just fantastic
Sol worked with Chris Hughton at Spurs of course, and the former England great seems ready to make his debut against Blackpool at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon, and is due to play again for the Reserves tonight at Whitley Park, against Liverpool to get some match practice.
Sol seems very keen to be part of the action at Newcastle these days, and told the Evening Chronicle today about what he thinks of Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood:
“The gaffer is fantastic – look at what he did last season – he could be right up there with the best of them.”
“I think he’s going to do great again this season too. He’s passionate about his football and he’s a workaholic.”
“Colin Calderwood is the same and the two together have been great for Newcastle.”
There’s no doubt at all that Hughton and Calderwood have turned things around big time at Newcastle, in such a short time, and they have just finished another very good summer transfer season in which they brought in 5 good players for around £10M – not bad business at all.
Campbell continued:
“United are lucky to have them.” “They’re conscious of everything, they want the club to move in the right direction.”
“They’ve calmed down all of the gossip and concentrated on football, which is what this club should be about and how it should be run.”
“Chris has done a fantastic job. You have to look at what he’s done and say that.” “And when you look at the finances that everybody has to deal with in football, not just Newcastle, it’s pretty impressive.”
And of course a win against Blackpool on Saturday and we could be well placed in the Premier League table come Saturday night.
Our next games after Blackpool are Everton away, Chelsea away in the Carling Cup, and then Stoke City at home, so things are never easy when you’re in the English Premier league – the top league in the world
