Former Newcastle Striker To Return To Tyneside

Chris Hughton will be hoping that Marlon Harewood does not come back to haunt the Newcastle side tomorrow afternoon, when he will be playing center-forward for Blackpool.

Marlon Harewood – scoring one of his 5 goals for Newcastle last season

It was a really good move for Marlon to move to Blackpool, because he should get plenty of games for the Tangerines this season, and he made a great start to his Blackpool career with 2 goals in their opening 4-0 win at Wigan Athletic.

It looks like Harewood has shaken off a hamstring problem and is in the squad for the game tomorrow, where he will surely start – if fit.

Chris Hughton talked about Marlon today:

“We saw what he could do against Wigan when he scored two goals on the first game of the season.”“That was him coming in after just a week of training.”

“He’ll be a strong character in the dressing room.” “He gave us five goals, and he was very good in that dressing room. He’ll be a threat if he plays.”

Harewood really wanted to join Newcastle full time, and he did get 5 goals for us when he was on loan, as Chris points out,  and seems a smashing lad and very professional, although in some games he often looks lazy.

But he did his very best at Newcastle, and seemed to love life on Tyneside, and no doubt he will be well received by the Newcastle crowd for helping  the Magpies get that good start to last season – which was so important.

And it seems that Chris is full of respect for Harewood, and we’ll never know if he would have permanently signed the player last January, before the player suffered a training-ground injury at his old club Aston Villa, which put him out of contention for a move.

Marlon wll certainly be looking to score for Blackpool tomorrow – that’s his job.

Comments welcome.

Looking forward to Football Focus being at SJP tomorrow, be good to be behind the scenes. Be interesting to see which special guests they pull up, although I suppose it will ONLY be Shearer…

Harewood did better than I thought for us, but I still think he is a lazy player. If Holloway can get the best from him after his serious injury, then good luck to him… just not this weekend.

Well since he left us, we’ve had several new faces come intoth squad who’s he’s not played against or trained with, so hopefully Mike & Colo will be able to hamdle him on the pitch & stop him from scoring, or even out new boy Chiek Tiote playing in his role as defencive midfielder will stop the ball getting to him…

I still think we’ll win buy at least 3 goals, especially with H-bomb playing for us.. 🙂

I think we will see debuts by our three new signings against Blackpool – second half probably. Harewood may be a useful ex-player but up against Sol on when he is up for it on a good day? It is not on TV for many – but my son says he can get a link from down under. Hope so.

I wouldn’t have minded him on a season long loan, but look what we had without him! Nolan and Carroll both in the teens with a decent goals to game ratio. It was really when Malteaser left that we got working the 4-5-1 effectively.

Tbh I never forgave The Beluga Whale for what he did to Given in 2006 ( We won 2-0 at Upton Park). Was practically last kick of the game & he went in into Shay’s family jewels & knock the stuffing out of him.

The great Shay Given was never the same again after that. How I’d love for Tiote to harpoon that demented mammal 2morrow.

    Btw @themole
Im one of many here, who counts you & others like yourself, a savior for the links. Much appreciation for the selfless act mate. Keep it up. HWTL

I don’t care about Marlon Harrywood or Blackpool, i just like their coach Holloway but don’t care about anybody else. I think we will beat them easily in the second half. first half maybe a 1-0 lead resulting to a 4-5 to 0 win.

Harewood is an old player that are average at most.

His goals at Wigan is a one-time-off only
