Chris Hughton is likely to retain the 4-5-1 formation against Blackpool tomorrow afternoon, that has served Newcastle well so far in this very important season.
Sol Campbell – seems fit and ready to go
It seems clear that Chris will play both Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini as his center-backs, and the two of them have forged a great partnership so far this season, that looks to be growing in confidence with every game.
Of course Chris now has Sol Campbell chomping at the bit to play for the Newcastle first team, but he may have to wait for his chance, although we feel sure he will start the Carling Cup game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, 22nd September.
There has been lots of publicity about Sol Campbell recently, as the experienced England International has seen action in our last two Reserve team games, and Newcastle manager Chris Hughton says he would have no doubts about starting him for the first team.
Chris said today:
“I am sure he could play 90 mins. He has done a series of training sessions and in the two games he has played, he has played 45 and just over 60 minutes,”
“So I am quite sure he could play 90 although you never really know if anyone is up to speed until they are given the opportunity.”
The main thing at Newcastle right now is that we have great competition for places across the field, and that has to be very good for the Tyneside club.
