Newcastle Have To Cope With High Expectations

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton is hoping that the Geordie fans will be patient against Blackpool this afternoon.

Chris Hughton – expectations are high for today’s game

Our first game was a tough one against Aston Villa, who finished 6th last season in the Premier League, one point above Liverpool, and it was expected to be another tough game, much like the one that Newcastle had at Old Trafford in their first game of the season.

But since that match finished 6-0 in Newcastle’s favor, Newcastle fans may think that the game today against Blackpool is a much easier one, and a win is almost a foregone conclusion.

But football can be strange game, and we don’t think the game this afternoon will be particularly easy, and it is almost a banana skin kind of game – we could slip up.

The Newcastle manager said this morning:

“Expectations will be higher after what happened against Aston Villa, but I think it makes it a different game to Villa.” “We have been very keen to dampen expectation, certainly in the early part of the season.”

“We are trying to make sure we stabilise. But certainly on the back of our last home game, it does heighten expectations. It is something this team has to be able to cope with.”

Of course if the lads can get those 3 points, then we will have made a great start to the season, with 7 points from our first 4 games, and we should be flying high in the Premier League by 5:00 pm local time this afternoon.

Howay The Lads!!

Not from me they don’t, although I do expect a modest win today.

it’s not high expectations if we want to stay in this league then Blackpool at home is a must win
if we dont expect and beat teams like Blackpool at home then were in trouble

When at home, we can beat any team in the world. I love high expectations, it makes you go harder after those high expectations. If you never expect your self to go higher than just stay down forever. You’ll never succeed. You have to challenge your self.
