Kevin Nolan – Ben Arfa Will Be a Big Big Player For Newcastle

Kevin Nolan, the Newcastle captain has come out today and said some sensible words about the new Newcastle player, French International Hatem Ben Arfa, who is currently on loan from French Champions, Marseilles.

Ben Arfa – will become a big big player for Newcastle United

And Kevin is well aware of the dangers of expecting too much too soon from any player, especially when he is still so young.

The Paris-born player seems to love it at Newcastle and it seems that once he’s made 25 appearances for the Newcastle club he will become a Magpie player.

Kevin Nolan told the Evening Chronicle today:

“The lad’s going to be a big, big player for this club this year, and we’ve just got to make sure we do it the right way with him, Cheik Tiote and Sol Campbell.

“We’ve got to get them so when they come in they play every game, and are up to speed.”  “It’s a tough league to come into when you’ve played in France all your life.”

“The lad’s got some ability – I was talking to Nicolas Anelka about him.”  “He said he’s some talent, but he’s got to have time to settle, and we can’t expect too much, too soon.”

And of course it’s hardly suprising the French International himself wants to start tomorrow, because he’ll be keen to do his very best at Newcastle, and show his best form as quickly as possible.

But Kevin and the senior players have the experience to know that the lad will need a little time to settle in on Tyneside, whatever he says.

Although we have to say he already looked a cracking player last Saturday afternoon, in those last 18 minutes.  And we understand Ben Arfa has been in terrific form at the Benton training grounds, and his talent and class is there for all to see.

Comments welcome.

Yes if he’s allowed to play in your position Nolan !

Nolan was great in the championship, but as many people have said, in the premiership pace is everything physically and mentally.

he does seem to have a lot of say doesn’t he.
Wonder how he’d react if Hughton had the cojones to drop him for ben arfa

Well that could be the move to do RH but maybe drop Smith, drop Nolan back to CM with Barton and Arfa ahead of them, Jonas and Routledge on the wings.

I’m sorry, but whatever you want to say about Nolan lacking pace etc. He’s already bagged two goals for us this season and has a habit of being in the right place at the right time.

It’s foolish to dismiss him because we want to see young Hatem show his skills. There are plenty of places he can do that on the pitch. I say let HBA replace whichever player is not doing what they’re supposed to on the day.

Gutirrez was a good bet on Saturday and CH should perhaps have made the substitution earlier.

Let’s not be in too much of a hurry to swap one set of good qualities for another. Let’s wait and see where HBA is needed at Goodison before we start demanding that he replace Nolan.

Not sure about that Mac. Barton is hardly pacey and Nolan has that knack of finding the hole between defenders that is why he scores goals. As for BA he needs to be on the wing period where he can have the option to cut inside if he wants. Our main weapon is Carroll and BA can get to the byline with ease and get in pinpoint crosses for the likes of Carroll to lap up.

Personally, I would leave Jonas out from starting eleven as he does not contribute very much to the team in term of goals and assists. At the moment, I can only see our goals coming from Carroll and Nolan.

Lets hope it`s a case of awaiting the big bucks from the EPL before we sign BA to a permanent contract, as £6m is cheap for such a talented player.
Also hope Tiote lives up to his rep., could be the start of a rebuilding process.
Believe we are still interested in the Dutch striker (full holland international) Wolfswinkel,
Could be a lethal combination , he and Carroll.
Well as long as we have a good scouting system in place it will enable the club to bring in both youngsters for the future and rebuild the present side by bringing in one or two top players each season replacing some of our journeymen in the side.
I`m hoping we can do enough to survive this season, as without the major bucks from the EPL, it could mean years before we have an oppotunity to bring this club where the fans want
it, challenging for silverware and a european spot, which could be in our future sooner than expected, if the right decissions are made.

Jonas doesn’t contribute much to the team ? On Saturday he played a shocker ! that’s for sure.Jonas is the biggest contributor to the toon,Jonas work rate is amazing !,Skills level are above average and likes to run at defenders. Before you make a statement you should look into the big picture not the small one !

Now we have wingers with a bit of pace, Jonas Routledge, Lovenkrands, Ben Arfa, its time to turn tham loose, feeding Carroll up front and stretching sides.
I`m wondering how long it`s going to take before we install our tough recent midfield stopper Tiote which will allow the rest of the midfield to get forward?
Yep a bit of entertainment plus a bit of “route one” could prove effective, face it our only forward is unstopable in the air, just needs to be provided with the right balls.

    Its Derka @9, I`m @10, confusing I know !
As for Carroll`s balls, better high than low a`la
Nigel Quinn and Dunk Ferguson, hey! play to your strengths, even if it`s route uno.

I think Ben Arfa will take Routledge’s spot on the starting lineup. He will defo not drop Nolan as he is captain.

Visten, give Arfa the Rooney roaming role, let him play where he wants, on the wings and up the centre….. see what he can do!
