Ben Arfa And Cheick Tiote Both Get Starts At Everton

Chris Hughton has indeed given two of the Newcastle new boys Cheick Tiote and Ben Arfa their first starts this afternoon at Goodison Park, with Cheick Tiote, the Ivory Coast International, making his debut.

Alan Smith and Jonas Gutierrez are relegated to the bench and indeed the side is the one we hoped Chris would pick in our Match Preview – so obviously he’s consulted the Newcastle United Blog before  announcing his team. 😀

But seriously, we think it’s a good move by Hughton with both Gutierrez and Smith not having good games last week, and Smith responsible for giving away the penalty that put Newcastle on the back foot, just before half time.

We have to think that both newcomers were also impressive in training this week, with Tiote coming straight into the starting eleven for this important game at Goodison this afternoon.

Everton manager David Moyes has made one change from the side that drew 3-3 with Manchester United. Tim Cahill misses out with a knee injury, and is replaced up front by former Newcastle target, Jermaine Beckford.

Howay The Lads!!

TEAMS:

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Heitinga, Jagielka, Arteta, Distin, Beckford, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini.
Subs: Mucha, Bilyaletdinov, Neville, Gueye, Coleman, Yakubu, Barkley

Newcastle United: Harper; Perch, Coloccini Williamson, Enrique; Routledge, Tiote, Barton, Ben Arfa; Nolan; Carroll.
Subs: Krul, Campbell, Lovenkrands, R.Taylor, Smith, Gutierrez, Ameobi

Brilliant news. This boy arfa is a huge talent. everton will have there work cut. This is what we need, if your not performing you lose your place. Too many of our players are to use to being picked every game

Good first 11, good bench. The squad’s looking good now.
We just need to give Tiote & Ben Arfa time to adjust to te prem and I’m sure we’ll see this midefiled quite a lot.

Brilliant squad, but I think Ben Arfa should of replaced Routledge. Anyways good to see Smith is dropped. Its about time! Can’t wait for Cheik Tiote and Ben Arfa to get in action. Also, Campbell awaiting debut.

Hey lads, here is a list of potential links for the game.
This website is pretty good usually in picking out sources. You may have to try a couple before you find a working one… but no pain, no gain right!

Great to see some bold changes. Both lads untested really in premiership – so lets go canny with the expectations lads, I for one hope they do really really well, but lets not put too much pressure and expectation on them – they both just moved to a new country, and football team, and it is Everton away afterall.

A point is the best we can hope for…but this team can only get stronger the more games they play together, when they’ve fully settled into the PL I expect this will be the core of our team for years to come.

    HWTL!!

let’s hope this is a masterstroke by the boss , I’m very excited about this . HBA in forJonas who needs to learn he can’t keep running till he runs into a brick wall and loses posession plus his delivery is invariably poor

YES!! I just saw that Cahil is out too! He is a big threat. And one of the best players on Everton no doubt.

I cant wait for Cheik Tiote to play. He is a brick wall. I think he has a chance to score with his long shots today.

We are very unlikely to win.
