Newcastle have made a positive start to this Premier League season, and if anything the team could have had more than 7 points from their first 5 games, with just a little bit more luck.
Thierno Bah – shown back in 2004 playing for the Swiss U21 side
But we feel sure that with the success of the last couple of transfer windows where the club has brought in 9 new players for around £9M, they will continue to bolster their squad in January.
Of course Newcastle can also do that before January, by signing any good free agents who are still out there, and news today that Everton, Celtic and Newcastle are looking into the possibility of signing free agent Thierno Bah.
It turns out that the 5’11” Swiss midfielder, who was born in Labe Ville in Guinea, is without a club having been released by Swiss Super League side Neuchatel Xamax.
His agent, Gino Culbertson said:
“I have been asked by a contact to circulate the name of Thierno to clubs in the UK as he would like to have the chance to play in Britain. He is willing to come over and train with a club so that he can show that he has a lot to offer to any interested side.”
Bah has said he would like to play in the UK:
“’I’ve always dreamed of playing in the English league or Scottish league because I think British football is one of the best football in the world. I’d be very happy to wear the jersey of a team of one of the two leagues.”
Bah is 27, and played twenty games for the Swiss U21 side, but is yet to make an appearance for the full national team.
But after Newcastle have just signed the very talented Cheick Tiote in the summer, we wonder if we need another defensive midfielder, since Alan Smith can play defensive midfield, as can James Perch.
We’re not sure this player is good enough for Newcastle to be really interested in him – even for nothing.
What do you think?
