Newcastle Must Go All Out For Win Against Stoke City

Chris Hughton will field his strongest possible side on Sunday afternoon, to try to get Newcastle’s third win on the trot.

Chris Hughton – very tough game against Stoke

Bur exactly what that team is will be up to Chris to decide, because in the last 6 days he’s fielded essentially two completely different teams in the last two games, and both sides have played great and got outstanding results at Everton last Saturday, and then Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Sol Campbell will be pushing for a starting place after making his Newcastle debut at Chelsea, and James Perch is now  available after he served his one game suspension on Wednesday night for, receiving 5 yellow cards in his first 5 PL games.

The Newcastle fans will be hoping for a win, especially after the big disappointment at home against Blackpool, a couple of weeks ago.

Chris talked about the game, and the fact the lads will need to get back to earth quickly, after the Chelsea heroics on Wednesday night and concentrate on the game coming up:

“It’s never that difficult, I must admit, because of the preparation that has to go into every game.”

“It’s so massive that the day after the Chelsea game, you are already going through the Stoke preparation, so it is not very difficult to bring yourself back down.”

“We have just got to make sure we are prepared very well for a very good and very dangerous team.”

All 3 points against Stoke will get Newcastle into double figures as far as points go, and we’ll have 10 points from our first 6 games,  which would signal a terrific start to the league season.

And we have to remember that however great the Chelsea result was last Wednesday, our priority is the league, and we must go all out on Sunday for the win.

The very last thing we want this season is to be in another dour relagation scrap – the old heart may not be able to take it this time. 😀

Howay The Lads!!

Let’s hope the lads aren’t over confident after beating Chelsea. A good solid start to the match on Sunday would do the trick. Pray they do not come out flat.

I agree with the lineup in post #1 although I would probably consider switching Colo for Campbell as Stoke pose a great threat with their aerial ability.

i agree gunnarnufc, i dont think campbell will be fit enough to start after the chelsea game although u could be wrong, if we did include him i would still like to play colo because hes played so well and shouldnt really be dropped so maybe play him at RB just takes away my first line up of havin taylor ther..hmm glad im not manager =]

campbell is suprisingly quick for such a big guy, i do honestly beleive he is still off the pace but he can only get tht match pace back by playin in matches but if im honest i prefer to keep our defence on my first post..i think Williamson and Colo will deal with Jones and walters quite easy tbh but i believe we need a stronger disciplined RB playin as Etherington is a threat down the left, pennant is a good player but enrique will sort him out i think, then they dont hav anything else except delaps throws which carroll will come bak and help deal with leaving ben arfa uptop ready for the counter attack, if we attack them from the off and get an early goal a think we could be in for a really really good day.. the aston villa scoreline comes to mind ha

That line up seems about right – altho I prefer Perch over Taylor & Routledge over Jonas.

With Etherington bombing down that side, I suspect another yellow card on the horizon from from JP. Although not my favourite, I actually get excited watching Routy cuts inside as he did at Everton, as oppose to his mindless & pointless attempt at crossing.

I do wish we play with 2 strikers up front at home but if the current formation suggest we’ll able to boss the midfield better, then by all means.

Lookin at the bench, not too shabby I say 🙂

SUBS: Soderbergh, Ameobi, Smith, Taylor, Lovenkrands, Ranger, Ferguson

Uh, yeah I did. Every now and then this thing called a “competition” happens.

    http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3A+competition&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a

You might want to have a look at “contest” too if you’re still a bit confused.

@Newcastle Rock: Wouldn’t mind seeing that line up, although I think maybe Routledge has done more for us as of late and Jonas had the league cup game so there’s every chance he’ll be rested.

Ohhh hang on a second. I remember you, burnsie! You’re the lad who was having a go at beefy like you had bugger all else to do with your life (I remember 3 posts in a row?) before/after the Villa game then vanished after I asked you to kindly shut it. Hold a grudge do you?

It’s the internet, mate. Grow up.

sorry if ur being sarcastic, but incase ur not and ur just totally brain dead i think you would find his name is ben arfa not arfa and i assure you its all the same player =] read the back of his top if u dont believe me.
lovenkrands hasnt done anything to start ahead of the line up we used against everton sorry, he cant play on the wing hes not very good out ther plus ben arfa, jonas, routy are all more effective in tht position

Andy Carroll will definitely score. His heading physical style will kill the Stoke defense. Can’t wait for this game on Sunday. We will beat them 3-0, with Carroll grabbing 2 goals and Barton with one goal. Ben Arfa to have a excellent game.

    penguin,

i rspect your opinion mate, but i gotta tell ya your are completely mad if you want routledge on the pitch over jonas. Routledge has pace on jonas thats it, jonas is a much better passer, dribbler, and all out just abetter winger and footballer then routledge. Not to mention that jonas and enrique’s link up play on that left flank is lethal…routledge just runs real fast and haf the time with out the ball. I like him he plays hard but he needs some work he is far from a finish problem. Argentine international vs player just now breaking into prem league. too easy mate. Most important though is the link up on left flank, we killed villa with that. jonas and hba on the pitch at the same time is only way to go.

i get the impresion Ch has told the players if you preform well an win in the prem you keep your place in the team, so for that reason i think routledge deserves to start over jonas.

also after the game against everton pundits mentioned ben arfa doesnt really use his right foot so think it will be him on the left hand side of midfield

Trust me Sarge, I’m actually on the same page with you. Few weeks ago, I’d rather have Jonas over Routy in a heartbeat. You know what you gonna get with him. Non stop running all day, helping out with the defence, love takin on players & lousy end product. 🙂

Hell, even the great Diego Armando Maradona wants him at the World Cup, even if we had relegated to League 1! I love Spidey more than you know but on current form, he just seem to be in a funk. Not sure if it’s the World Cup hangover or sum personal shit he’s goin thru atm. His passing was atrocious on Wednesday. Kept giving away the ball in the 1st half. I’m sure I’m not alone on this Sarge.

Personally I would like to see Jonas on the right. He would provide better protection for Perchy against Etherington tha Wayne. Could this be the reason why Perchy amassed those yellow cards. Spidey to come on later & make life harder for Pulis’s tired defenders. Maybe even earning us a late penalty?

Btw Stoke have the ex-Mackem scum Danny Collins at left back. Lets give him em hell boys!
