Chris Hughton will field his strongest possible side on Sunday afternoon, to try to get Newcastle’s third win on the trot.
Chris Hughton – very tough game against Stoke
Bur exactly what that team is will be up to Chris to decide, because in the last 6 days he’s fielded essentially two completely different teams in the last two games, and both sides have played great and got outstanding results at Everton last Saturday, and then Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Sol Campbell will be pushing for a starting place after making his Newcastle debut at Chelsea, and James Perch is now available after he served his one game suspension on Wednesday night for, receiving 5 yellow cards in his first 5 PL games.
The Newcastle fans will be hoping for a win, especially after the big disappointment at home against Blackpool, a couple of weeks ago.
Chris talked about the game, and the fact the lads will need to get back to earth quickly, after the Chelsea heroics on Wednesday night and concentrate on the game coming up:
“It’s never that difficult, I must admit, because of the preparation that has to go into every game.”
“It’s so massive that the day after the Chelsea game, you are already going through the Stoke preparation, so it is not very difficult to bring yourself back down.”
“We have just got to make sure we are prepared very well for a very good and very dangerous team.”
All 3 points against Stoke will get Newcastle into double figures as far as points go, and we’ll have 10 points from our first 6 games, which would signal a terrific start to the league season.
And we have to remember that however great the Chelsea result was last Wednesday, our priority is the league, and we must go all out on Sunday for the win.
The very last thing we want this season is to be in another dour relagation scrap – the old heart may not be able to take it this time. 😀
Howay The Lads!!
