Sol Campbell Could Get Start Against Manchester City

We were wondering why Sol Campbell wasn’t on the bench yesterday,  but we now understand that he felt his thigh during the Chelsea game, and was rested for yesterday’s game.

Sol Campbell – could get start on Sunday

But Sol will be back for Newcastle United’s important visit to Manchester City, although he will be the only player back from injury for Sunday’s game at the City of Manchester Stadium (Eastlands).

Both injured Danny boys, Guthrie and Simpson are still not ready, and both could make their comebacks in the Reserve game against Aston Villa at home in eight days time.

This is what Chris said about Sol today:

“Sol felt his thigh slightly on Wednesday night,” “He managed to play 90 minutes, but didn’t make it. He’ll be available for next week.”<

“Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson are back in training, but will probably need a reserve game under their belts.” “Tomorrow’s game is too quick, so we’re looking at next week for them to be back available.”

There has to be a good chance that Sol will get a first Premier League start next Sunday, as his experience at the back may be what the Newcastle side need right now, after again losing a game yesterday at home,  that they probably should have won.

But who Chris would leave out could be a very tough decision, with both Coloccini and Williamson both performing well do far this season.

Comments welcome.

    team for city

    Jonas__Tiote__Barton____Ben Arfa

Jonas used to be a right midfielder before after all, so why not use him there he looked like our most threatening player on sunday. Although Routledge has the pace to frighten defences, does he have the end product? I think not at this level.

Nolan and Willo need a rest as does routledge and to be fair so does colo but i’d rather play him than willo….
Perch deserves a rest as well…. a very long one!

Also the reason that Sol didnt feature at all yesterday is because he felt the effects of the game vs chelsea and picked up a minor knock according to Andy Gray before KO yesterday

Any player can mash in an own goal – even ones like Perch’s awful one yesterday.

I’ve wanted Ryan Taylor at RB for a while now as I think he’s shown he really wants it lately in the reserves and has hit some great goals. (How much could we have done with a great free kick taker yesterday-Barton is too inconsistant at Free kicks and Arfa’s attempts were awful).

If Perch is dropped now for that clanger though I doubt his confindence may never recover so we might as well sell him on now.

In my opinion Taylor should have been playing there yesterday anyway if players really are picked on form and we wouldn’t be all so p****d off today.

Yet again we were made mugs of by the worst competition: a 1-1 draw with Wolves, the humiliation of a 2-0 defeat by Blackpool at home and now a 2-1 defeat by Stoke at home-AWFUL PERFORMANCE!!!!

Just to put things into context. Perch’s own goal was nowhere near as tragic as Duffs.

CH bought Sol as he had faith in him , I know he is not fit and probably will not be fit entire leaque but we have to give him a chance and see what can he come up with his valuable experience .

ManCity is a different game, and CH needs to plan for that squad, not a re-match with Stoke. Changes, if any, will be done on that basis. NUFC will get another shot at both Stoke & Blackpool, later in the season.

Colo and williamson have been great this season…Colo really shows class and composure.

However., against Jones we could have done with physical presence of Campbell, but against Tevez we should want williamson and Colo.

    Coloccini at Right Back

    Ryan Taylor at Right Back

Problem with us is that we got CHAMPIONSHIP players at the right – Perch and Routledge

Maybe Ryan Taylor should play instead of Routledge against City as long as Ben Arfa plays up front for a pacey outlet.
Barton’s monopolising of our dead balls with poor results is another reason for bringing Taylor back at Eastlands.
