Hughton Hails Newcastle New Signing Coup – Yven Moyo

Last week Newcastle pulled off another coup when they signed 18 year-old wonder kid Yven Moyo from French club Souchaux.

Yven Moyo – signed for Newcastle

And it’s now official as Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has hailed the signing of Yven Moyo , apparently completed last week,   as one for the future.

As we had reported yesterday the former Sochaux man was on the bench for the Reserve game with Wolves on Monday night, but nobody has mentioned he was even at the club.

The 18 year old was heavily linked with Manchester United 18 months ago and again in the summer, but hey – he suddenly arrive on Tyneside – so we have to believe our scouts are getting the job done. And by the way Yven is 18 and not 19 as reported in the Journal  this morning – he was born on 15th March, 1992.

And it appears that the France Under 18 international arrived at St James’ Park on a free transfer after rejecting Souchaux’s offer of a new contract.

This is what Chris said about the lad today:

He’s very much one for the future. He’s a lad who came on trial and showed enough to earn himself a contract,” “It will benefit him working with our development group and it is something that we will continue to do.”

“We are looking at France as a very good market to pick up players – as many other clubs are – but it is not just there.” “We are casting our net much wider but it is all positive for the future of the club.”

This is really good news because not only does the Newcastle seem to be after the top youngsters available, but we are also able to sign them on at Newcastle.

That’s got to auger well for the future of the club, and it seems the club’s youth policy is now in full swing, which is great.

Now the first team just has to start winning a few games. 😀

Comments welcome.

Hehe, thats a bit harsh shearermania, but you may have a point there.

Never seen this Moyo play but its always nice to have some bright prospects on our books.

Another foreigner I hope they are making sure the next Beardsley, Waddle, Shearer or Gascoigne isn’t snapped up by a club outside the area.

Great to see the youth recruitment programme hasn’t been forgotten.
Let’s not build him up too much as a “wonderkid” just yet though, especially as Hughton simply says he “showed enough to earn himself a contract”. He doesn’t need that kind of immediate pressure.

Seems Ashley is looking to get the youngsters in like Asewipes have in the past. So if we can stabalise this season and make a bit of progress next season the young guns should be coming through. If all goes well it looks good.

Geordiedoonsooth – I read an article a little while ago where Hoots was saying he was looking at local talen as well, so as to avoid missing the likes of Shearer and Gazza. Looks like the nets are being cast near and far. Pretty good really.

It really depends on whether we keep players who make it into the senior squad.

Will Ashley cash in as soon as they are valued at £8-10 million+ ?

Are we really setting ourselves up to be a top team or a feeder team for Europe’s elite?

    We still don’t know.

I guess a large offer for Andy Carroll will be the first indication we’ll get of Ashley’s long term plans.

    IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

“NUFC must apologise to fans for any confusion caused yesterday.

The club website reported that we had signed Yven Moyo, in reality, this player was recommended to Mike Ashley but he mis-heard the recommendation and instead the club is delighted to announce the signing of ex. DJ Simon Mayo.”

Why not take it all out and wonder why we’ve “not seen” Eden Hazard yet?

I hope you understand what is wrong with your question, neun…

Still rember Ian Rush, John barnes did play for us as well.

The scouting network seems to be working and Ben Arfa is probably gonna be a catalyst for more French young starlets.

Personally I don’t care where they come from if they can play, and as NUFC has a history of missing local talent or selling them for profit nothing has changed on that front!!
